On today's episode of All in the Industry®, our host Shari Bayer has a special episode in honor of the late, legendary Gael Greene, who passed away this past Tuesday at her home in Manhattan. She was 88 years old and the cause was cancer. As a tribute to Gael, we're rebroadcasting our Episode 150 with Gael, aka Insatiable Critic, which originally aired on August 2, 2017. Shari was incredibly honored to have Gael on her show as she was truly an icon in the hospitality industry.  Gael, who was the original restaurant critic of New York Magazine for four decades beginning in 1968, the year of the magazine’s inception, reinvented the art of the restaurant review with sass and sensuality. She was famous for many things, including her taste, her elaborate hat collection and her intimacies, as well as her incredible work in the restaurant community serving, up until her passing, as chairwoman of Citymeals on Wheels, a New York charity she helped create in the early 1980s to provide food for the elderly. We are very saddened by this news, and send our sincerest condolences to Gael’s family, friends and community. Shari feels fortunate and grateful that she had the opportunity to know Gael a bit through her work as a culinary and hospitality publicist with her restaurant clients, as well as a podcaster.  It was a true privilege having Gael on our show, and Shari is so thankful that she took the time to share her story, or stories, with us.
