Description
"And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy." (Colossians 1:18)In this letter to the church at Corinth, the apostle Paul is talking about God the Son, also known as Jesus. What does it mean that he is the head of the body? This is a reference to the church. Scripture often refers to all believers as one body and Christ is our head. That means He's united to us and He's in charge. Paul goes on to say that Jesus is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead. This refers to the way his resurrection from the dead made it possible for us to be raised from the dead into our eternal life with Him. This is huge. He is before, above, and sovereign over all things and He has invited us to join him in eternity. Count me in! He's where the joy is!
