I notice that during this time of the year we need more help winding down. That is why in this episode I am introducing the 'Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra'. Hailed by the sages as the heart of the Vedas, the 'Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra' can help us to tune into the healing energy of the universe. the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is from Rig veda (Mandala VII, Hymn 59), one of the most ancient scriptures of the divine wisdom of yoga. This healing mantra invokes Shiva. Shiva personifies pure consciousness. Shiva has many names, and Mrutunjaya is one of Shiva's names. Mrutunjaya means the one who conquers death. Consciousness is everywhere, which means Shiva’s presence is everywhere. With this understanding, when we chant the mantra we invoke divine Shiva’s healing energy. The Mantra is Aum Tryambakam yajamahe Sugandhim pushti-vardhanam Urvarukamiva bandhanan Mrityor mukshiya mamritat The mantra conveys its nourishing and life-sustaining quality. The sound of the mantra fills us with the healing energy which is at work within us, regular chanting of the mantra supports us, and helps during troubled times. I am chanting this mantra 108 times in this podcast.
