Description
Today Brodie refreshes the concept of load vs capacity. Load is 'the amount of physical load placed on the body' verses Capacity which is 'the bodies ability to handle load'. This concept helps runners understand WHY they get injuries instead of believing unhelpful misconceptions such as flat feet and leg length discrepancy. It all boils down to one statement: “The body will adapt to the load we place upon it, so long as the application of the load doesn’t exceed the capacity of the body to adapt”. After listening to this episode, self-reflect on your past injuries, rehabilitation and training philosophy. We can then go one step further and look ahead to the future and apply this concept to future training decisions.
