About this ebook

Self-care sounds overindulgent. However, it absolutely necessary for a chronically ill person’s overall health and well-being. Most of us grew up believing that the harder we work and the more we do, the more excellent we will become. However, this paradigm no longer works for us. Now that we’re chronically ill, we have to choose to do less. And you will probably find that the less you do, and the more you will reprioritize your life. The more often you add rest and replenishing time into your life, the better we will feel and the more resilient. In the process, you will live the best life you can with whatever chronic illness you are experiencing.

    Introduction

Most individuals with arthritis have a difficult time practicing extreme-self-care. Instead, we just keep going, regardless of how we feel. We push past our limits and energy levels. Chronically ill individuals are getting seriously ill. And some of us are quite young and should be living a vibrant and well-balanced life. Yet, we feel unwell because we keep pushing ourselves and not taking care of ourselves.

This made me think, especially since I lost a few pretty dear friends close to my heart in the last few years. These ladies had so many more years of good living left. Yet, in a few months they were diagnosed with a terminal illness and died. What is happening to us and how did we get so
