    Introduction

    It can be hard to exercise consistently when you are in constant pain. Yet, if you don’t exercise, not only will your arthritis pain be worse, but you will experience many other negative secondary affects as well—most of which can avoided by developing new habits.

    It isn’t easy to live with arthritis pain, and it is much harder to exercise with it. I know how hard it is first-hand. I’ve had arthritis for over fifteen years now. And I’ve experienced more and more disability as well as pain and fatigue in my life.

    For the first few years after I was diagnosed, it was really easy to do no exercise at all. I felt sorry for myself. I was in pain all the time. I was becoming stiffer and increasingly sore. What’s worse, I was in a terrible mood almost all the time. And, I was putting on a LOT of weight! What I didn’t know then is that there is a cycle of pain that ensues if you don’t exercise. Exercising is central to feeling less depressed, having fewer tense muscles and sleeping better.
