    Materials

    •⅜ yard each of 20 colors*

    •3½ yards cream*

    •⅝ yard binding*

    •5½ yards backing

    •80″ × 100″ batting

    •Basic sewing tools and supplies

    * Fabrics from Wild Blooms collection from Island Batik used to make quilt.

    Project Notes

    Read all instructions before beginning this project.

    Stitch right sides together using a ¼″ seam allowance unless otherwise specified.

    Materials and cutting lists assume 40″ of usable fabric width for yardage.

    Arrows indicate directions to press seams.

    WOF – width of fabric

    HST – half-square triangle

    QST – quarter-square triangle

    Cutting

    From each of 12 colors cut:

    •8 (3½″ × 10½) A rectangles

    From each of 8 colors cut:

    •4 (7″) squares, then cut twice diagonally to make 128 F triangles

    •8 (4″) D squares

    From cream cut:

    •7 (7″ × WOF) strips; subcut into:

    31 (7″) squares, then cut twice diagonally to make 124 C triangles

    •7 (4″ × WOF) strips; subcut into:

    62 (4″) E squares

    •21 (1″ × WOF) strips; subcut into:

    64 (1″ × 10½″) B rectangles

    •10 (1½″ × WOF) G/H border strips

    Completing the Blocks

    A Blocks

    1. Sew a B rectangle to either side of an A rectangle (Figure 1). Make 32.

    2. Using different colors, sew an A rectangle to either side of the unit from step 1 to make an A block (Figure 2). Make 32.

    B Blocks

    1. Select colors for the blocks. You will need four blocks each of seven colors and three blocks of the eighth color. You will have extra pieces of some colors.

    2. Sew an E square to a D square (Figure 3a). Make 62.

    3. Sew two units from step 2 together to make a four-patch unit (Figure 3b). Make 31.

    4. Sew a C triangle to an F triangle on the short sides (Figure 4a). Make 62.

    5. Sew a C triangle to an F triangle on opposite shorts sides from step 3 to make a mirror image unit (Figure 4b). Make 62.

    6. Sew a unit from step 4 to opposite sides of a four-patch unit, making sure that like colors do not touch (Figure 5a). Make 31.

    7. Sew a unit from step 5 to opposite sides of a unit from step 6, making sure that like colors do not touch (Figure 5b). Make 31.

    Completing the Quilt

    1. Referring to the Assembly Diagram, lay out the blocks in nine rows of seven blocks each, alternating A and B blocks.

    2. Sew the blocks into rows and join the rows to complete the quilt center.
