Materials

♦ Scraps of assorted blue print fabrics to total about 5m (5½yd)
♦ 5m (5½yd) quilter’s muslin (cream)
♦ 65cm (¾yd) blue print fabric (binding)
♦ 4.7m (5¼yd) backing fabric
♦ Batting at least 230cm x 215cm (90in x 85in)
♦ Template plastic and 2B pencil
♦ Sandpaper board
♦ No. 11 milliners needle
♦ Fine thread in a neutral colour
♦ Hand quilting thread in blue and cream
♦ 25cm (10in) square of tulle (for marking the quilting design)
♦ Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
♦ Sewing machine and ¼in foot
♦ General sewing supplies

Templates

Trace each of the shapes A–F from the Pattern Sheet onto template plastic using a 2B pencil. Label them, mark the grain
