STAR CROSSED

BEHIND THE QUILT

STARRY EYED

“The Cross and Star block is one of the most traditional quilting blocks and it’s always fun to find new ways to create quilts using such a classic block. For this design, I have intermingled the Cross and Star blocks with simple Morning Star blocks. I have also left some empty space in the middle of the quilt, which helps create secondary patterns that add interest. I’ve been careful with my colour placement throughout the quilt, which allows the eyes to travel around the quilt top and see the overall pattern clearly. The eye is always drawn to red in a quilt, so the nine red stars here really hold the design together.” – Lynne Goldsworthy
