    Materials

    •Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice (worsted weight; 100% acrylic; 170 yds/3½ oz per skein): 1 skein each linen #099 (A), dusty purple #146 (B), dusty blue #108 (C), and dusty green #173 (D)

    •Size 8 (5mm) 16-inch circular and double point (set of 5) needles or size needed to obtain gauge

    •Stitch markers

    Gauge

    16 sts and 18 rows = 4 inches in St st.

    To save time, take time to check gauge.

    Pattern Stitch

    1×1 Rib (even number of sts)

    All rnds: *K1, p1; rep from * to end.

    Beanie

    With circular needle and A, cast on 72 (80, 88) sts. Pm for beg of rnd and join, taking care not to twist sts.

    Work 10 rnds in 1×1 Rib.

    Knit 2 rnds.

    Beg Pat

    Rnd 1: *With A k3, with B k1; rep from * to end.

    Rnds 2 and 3: *With B k1, with A k1; rep from * to end. Cut A at end of Rnd 3.

    Rnd 4: With B, knit.

    Rnds 5 and 6: *With C k1, with B k1; rep from * to end. Cut B at end of Rnd 6.

    Rnd 7: With C, knit.

    Rnds 8 and 9: *With D k1, with C k1; rep from * to end. Cut C at end of Rnd 9.

    Rnd 10: With D, knit.

    Rnds 11 and 12: *With A k1, with D k1; rep from * to end.

    Rnd 13: *With D k1, with A k3; rep from * to end. Cut D.

    Rnds 14 and 15: With A, knit.

    Shape Crown

    Note: Change to dpns when sts no longer fit comfortably on circular needle.

    Rnd 1: [K7 (8, 9), k2tog, pm] 7 times, k7 (8, 9), k2tog—64 (72, 80) sts.

    Rnd 2: Knit.

    Rnd 3: *Knit to 2 sts before marker, k2tog; rep from * to end—8 sts dec.
