    THE POLITICIAN AND THE SCIENTIST

    POLITICS AS A PROFESSION

The modern state, like any political association, is defined by its specific means: physical coercion.

THE STATE IS THE HUMAN COMMUNITY THAT WITHIN A CERTAIN TERRITORY SUCCESSFULLY CLAIMS THE MONOPOLY OF FORCE, BEING THE SOLE SOURCE OF THE RIGHT OF COACTION

POLITICS is the direction or influence on the direction of a political association. A POLITICAL ASSOCIATION is what we now call the State. Politics is also the aspiration to participate in power, to achieve its ends or to enjoy its prestige.

The STATE is defined as the RELATIONSHIP OF MAN'S DOMINATION OVER MAN, SUSTAINED BY LEGITIMATE VIOLENCE. To survive it needs the dominated to abide by authority.

There are basically three types of INTERNAL JUSTIFICATIONS THAT GIVE FOUNDATION TO THE LEGITIMACY OF A DOMINATION: a) TRADITIONAL (it obeys tradition, things are done as they have always been done, or obeying the oldest because it is the one that stores the most experience) ; b) CHARISMATIC (a charismatic leader is obeyed by virtue of his special and particular gifts); c) LEGAL (it obeys the laws or a set of explicit rules considered fair by those who must do it, no matter who executes or administers those rules. It does not obey people but rather the roles they embody).

The ADMINISTRATIVE TABLE is linked to the power holder by two means that directly affect personal interest: material retribution and social honor.

A STAMENTALLY STRUCTURED ASSOCIATION is that political association in which the means of administration are owned by the dependent administrative cadre. For example, the feudal association, where the power of the lord was based only on the bond of personal loyalty between his person and his servants.

A NON-STATUTELY STRUCTURED ASSOCIATION is different. The lord relies on domestic or commoners, on social groups deprived of property and their own social honor, entirely linked to him materially and without a basis to create their own power, for example, patriarchal and patrimonial domination, sultanism and the State. bureaucratic.

In the Modern State, the separation between the administrative framework and the material means of administration is carried out to the maximum, in analogy with the capitalist enterprise. Estate officials are expropriated and a new hierarchy is created.

    DISTINCTION OF POLITICAL actors

OCCASIONAL POLITICIANS: we all are when we vote, applaud or protest in a political meeting.

SEMIPROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS: they are the delegates and directors of political associations, who only carry out these activities in case of need, without living mainly from them and for them. Parliamentarians who only do politics
