D.C. Chagnon was born in a quiet little town in Tennessee, and this was also the place where her love for the romantic and exciting was born. The author remembers days spent running on hillsides and swimming in brooks, and endless hours spent reading books that were her escape from the mundane. It was on a fateful summer day when the teenager wrote her first romantic short story as a submission for a local paper’s contest. Signed under a pseudonym, her story that told of summer and the sun, of a friendship gone beyond its limits, and heart-aching tragedy, garnered praise and the first prize for the young story-teller. She was eighteen, and on that day, she decided that she wanted to write for the rest of her life. The author is happily enjoying the married life with her husband of five years and their two young children. She is an avid traveler and has sought every opportunity to tour places halfway across the globe. While at home, the author makes it a full-time commitment to be a mom, but also spends a lot of her time coming up with new story material. Just relax. You do this every day. She reminded herself.

Jasmine took a deep breath as she knocked on his door and entered. He wore the same black suit he had worn yesterday, with the same blue tie. He looked up, letting out a deep sigh.

Morning, Ben.

Is it morning already? He looked down at his coffee cup, picked it up, and shook it. There wasn’t much left.

Long night? Jasmine paced towards him. She handed him his mail. As usual, he had a lot.

Thank you. He smiled as he took it. Her heart skipped a beat as their eyes locked for a fraction of a second before she looked down at the ground. How have you been, Jasmine?

I’ve been… good, yourself?

He looked around his cluttered desk as he dropped the mail onto it. I’m… busy. He gave a soft laugh as he pushed himself up from the desk.

Jasmine let her eyes wonder over his body as he turned towards the window. He was a few inches taller than her, with black hair cut short and slicked back, and he had green eyes and a little 5 o’clock shadow. He looked perfect.

Well, I hope you get some rest soon. Jasmine forced a smile over her lips as she turned on her heel and headed for the door.

Every time she did it, she wished he’d call her back, or at least say something more than his usual Goodbye, but each time, he didn’t.
