After submitting and falling into billionaire Nathaniel's bed, Jade can't seem to reach him. He seems emotionally distant and hollow. Jade does her best work while in his company, but is it worth paying the hefty price of her feelings? She knows better than to fall for a man like Nathaniel who seems content to chew her up and spit her out, but even the best laid plans go awry.

Lost in a tumult of emotion, Jade tries to leave it all behind her and move on. Nathaniel, however, has other plans for her.

Book Three:
Jade's work shows up in a gallery, only she's not the one who put it there. Nathaniel, it seems, is not something she can just leave behind. He storms back into her life in the most surprising way.

Confused and angry, Jade tries to reject his advances, but her heart has other ideas. Can she get him to open up to her? Can she get him to tell the truth? If she wants those things from him, what is she going to have to give to get it?

D.C. Chagnon

D.C. Chagnon was born in a quiet little town in Tennessee, and this was also the place where her love for the romantic and exciting was born. The author remembers days spent running on hillsides and swimming in brooks, and endless hours spent reading books that were her escape from the mundane. It was on a fateful summer day when the teenager wrote her first romantic short story as a submission for a local paper’s contest. Signed under a pseudonym, her story that told of summer and the sun, of a friendship gone beyond its limits, and heart-aching tragedy, garnered praise and the first prize for the young story-teller. She was eighteen, and on that day, she decided that she wanted to write for the rest of her life. The author is happily enjoying the married life with her husband of five years and their two young children. She is an avid traveler and has sought every opportunity to tour places halfway across the globe. While at home, the author makes it a full-time commitment to be a mom, but also spends a lot of her time coming up with new story material. She is often heard saying how difficult it is to balance being a wholesome house mom while writing erotic fiction on the side. While she outwardly claims her inspirations to be the likes of renowned novelists Lisa Kleypas and Anne Rice, she does admit to being a fan of the more current works such as those of the Fifty Shades of Grey author and the Twilight series. On her off times, she can also be seen reading the more wholesome works by Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

    Part Two

Nathaniel had been gone for three days. Jade spent the first day debating whether to leave the penthouse. She had never in her life had a one night stand, and she had never intended to in the first place. She wasn't much of a drinker, and that bottle of wine had really muddled her common sense. Though, the more she thought about it, the less she regretted it. It was about time, she told herself, that she cut loose a little. She and Chris had been done for years now, and there was no sense in torturing herself and living a celibate life so that she could keep mourning a dead relationship. Chris didn't mourn. Why should she?

All the same, she didn't like love 'em and leave 'em types. He could have left her a note. Nathaniel could have texted her or called her. No, she thought. He's just a coward. So, next came the decision on whether or not she was going to take the job he'd offered her. She wasn't sure if she should, or if the job offer was just another way to get into her pants. Maybe if he'd offered her the job before he'd met her. Not that she thought she was any great beauty. It was just hard for her to have confidence in her work, she supposed. It was ludicrous to think that he'd offered her the commission for any other reason than he liked her work.

Maybe Chris had broken her trust in men. She feared it was just a manipulation. A trick.

By the second day, she was going stir-crazy. She left the penthouse to pick up the check from the gallery. It would take it several days to clear. . She was broke until then. Her last paycheck from her coffee house gig wasn't going to come in for two weeks. Not that it was a bad place to be stuck in. She ate the food and drank the wine and refused to feel guilty about anything else. She lounged in his bathrobe and took more than one shower a day. She used her phone to scour 'help wanted' ads in search of another part time job. She even perused the ads for apartments. They were all way more rent than she could afford, even with this change in fortune. As for the paintings, she wanted to work on them, but inspiration was hard to come by when all she could think about was how broke she was.

By the third day, she had made her decision. She would do the job. And she would not sleep with him again, no matter that it was everything she'd ever wanted, how good it was, or if it had otherwise just been a one night stand. Or even worse, a man who would never commit. It didn't matter, she told herself, if he was handsome, clearly intelligent, and wildly passionate. And in charge. He was everything she’d ever wanted. But.

He was arrogant. And cold. And a whole list of things she didn't like. He didn't try to seduce her. He was just used to getting his way. No, she thought. No more of that. She had to fend for herself. Jade told herself that she clearly had some self-esteem issues. That she'd let her ex-fiancé ruin her for a little and break her down. A man like Nathaniel probably saw that as easy prey.

So, on the third day, she started painting. He hadn't given her directions on what he wanted, but she was going to create something amazing. If she didn't have artist's block.

She stared at the blank, primed canvas in front of her. As promised, all the supplies were there. The canvases were primed and ready for paintings. She wondered if her mental turmoil was ruining her ability to paint. Experimenting, Jade swiped her loaded paintbrush across the canvas. It was a warm, sepia color. She sighed and shook her head.

That looks like shit, she said to herself. Literally.

Using turpentine, Jade scrubbed the smear of brown off the canvas. The strong chemical gave her a headache and she just gave up for the day. She had to get her head straight before she was going to paint. She had to make a decision about Nathaniel.

It occurred to her that he might have made the decision for her. Maybe he just wanted a taste and nothing more. She remembered how gentle he'd been. How sweet he'd acted after making her cum. He hadn't even gotten off himself. Maybe, he’d gotten called away on important business.

Still, she told herself, he could have sent her a message. It wasn't like texting or emailing took a long time. Jade was still in her pajamas, an old band t-shirt and some sweats, when she flopped on the couch and flicked on the TV. As usual, there wasn't anything on worth wasting her time with, but she just sat there, staring blankly at the boob tube.

Before Chris left her, she'd never had artist's block before. She'd never had trouble coming up with something to paint. She'd had the opposite problem most of her life. Her brain was full of too many ideas, too much creative energy. Jade never felt as if she had enough time in the day to get out all of the things she wanted to create. Chris called it a lack of focus. Maybe he was right. It wasn't the pressure that was getting to her; it was all the other life problems. And, she admitted to herself, she wanted to impress him. She'd never painted
