About this ebook

Jade Cooper is a starving artist. Literally. After moving to New York from her small, home town, Jade finds herself living in a roach motel, studio apartment with barely enough to make ends meet. She's working a dead-end job to pay her bills and relegating her love, art, to just a hobby. Then, billionaire Nathaniel Victor . Stunningly attractive and with a presence that makes her tremble, Nathaniel demands nothing short of absolute submission.

Nathaniel buys all of her paintings in a small gallery showing and offers to commission her for more. Jade is conflicted. It feels like selling out. She initially refuses his offer. Then, due to a strange turn of events, Jade is evicted. Without a penny to her name and with nowhere to go, she caves and takes the commission, along with Nathaniel's 'generous' offer to stay in his penthouse while she completes the work.

While there, she discovers that Nathaniel is her muse: her inspiration, the thing that really makes her art sing. All she has to do? Is submit to his every commanding, kinky whim. In the bedroom, Nathaniel is all fire, but outside of it? He's guarded ice. And after a falling out, Jade makes a tough decision.

Will she give into a man who seems to have a heart of stone? Or will she move on and try to forget about him?

Author

D.C. Chagnon

D.C. Chagnon was born in a quiet little town in Tennessee, and this was also the place where her love for the romantic and exciting was born. The author remembers days spent running on hillsides and swimming in brooks, and endless hours spent reading books that were her escape from the mundane. It was on a fateful summer day when the teenager wrote her first romantic short story as a submission for a local paper’s contest. Signed under a pseudonym, her story that told of summer and the sun, of a friendship gone beyond its limits, and heart-aching tragedy, garnered praise and the first prize for the young story-teller. She was eighteen, and on that day, she decided that she wanted to write for the rest of her life. The author is happily enjoying the married life with her husband of five years and their two young children. She is an avid traveler and has sought every opportunity to tour places halfway across the globe. While at home, the author makes it a full-time commitment to be a mom, but also spends a lot of her time coming up with new story material. She is often heard saying how difficult it is to balance being a wholesome house mom while writing erotic fiction on the side. While she outwardly claims her inspirations to be the likes of renowned novelists Lisa Kleypas and Anne Rice, she does admit to being a fan of the more current works such as those of the Fifty Shades of Grey author and the Twilight series. On her off times, she can also be seen reading the more wholesome works by Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

The paintbrush glided over the canvas, leaving behind it a smear of bright, lurid crimson. It was bold, maybe too bold, but Jade stepped back and looked at the piece she was creating, head canted to the side, and thought it was the perfect, final touch for her painting. It needed some color, she thought. It was one of her darker pieces, an abstract of deep, dark emerald and sparks of electric blue. The red lancing through the center of the piece really drew the eye in and kept the focus there. She nodded, grinning crookedly, pleased with herself. She pushed a lock of dark, auburn hair from her face, smearing paint on her skin in the process.

It was a piece she wanted to finish in order to add to her paintings that will be featured into the gallery's art show. It was a great opportunity. She might even sell a painting. Finally. For all her years of struggling as an artist, she'd never really been able to sell her own, original work. She painted portraits, too, and that seemed to be the only thing people ever wanted her to do. Jade felt she'd lost her voice as an artist. She was a sell-out.

She stepped back even further in her tiny, Manhattan apartment. The corner where her futon was served as her art studio. The lighting was poor at best, and she wished she had more room to create, but apartments in New York were ridiculously expensive, and though Jade had a day job as a barista for a trendy coffee house, it was just barely enough to pay all of her bills. Sometimes, she couldn't even manage that.

Jade inspected her work once more. She thrust out a narrow hip, her blue eyes narrowed on the work in question. Maybe the red wasn't the right choice. She honestly wasn't sure. She'd been questioning herself a lot lately. Every piece she made, it felt like pulling teeth. As though the joy she used to feel making art was slowly leaving her.

    The thought was terrifying.

Jade didn't know who she was without her ability to make art. She'd never had a block before, but all of that had changed when her fiancé of three years had left her. Chris was an artist, too, a photographer. She'd thought they had common ground with their creativity, but that turned out to be far and away from the truth.

He wasn't a -real- artist. Not like she was. He didn't suffer for his art. His pictures didn't evoke a deeper meaning. He shot models and lots of erotic pictures for magazines. It hadn't bothered her at first; art was art. But Chris always compared her to the women he took pictures of. He talked about how much sexier their curves were, how she was built like a tomboy. His remarks were
