About this ebook
After just finding out about her husband’s affair with her best friend, Diana has left home without knowing where she would go, leaving behind her nearly crippled high-school sweetheart and her infant daughter. She has wrongfully accused her boss and ruined her chance at a career, and she has completely run out of options.
But Diana has been given one more second chance. Her former secret admirer, Kurt, left as a boy and has now returned as a man. Now, she must decide if she can give up her life with her husband and her child for the adventurous escapism that Kurt offers . . . or if she can find a way to patch up every relationship in her life and salvage whatever remains she can find of her fairytale ending.
D.C. Chagnon
D.C. Chagnon was born in a quiet little town in Tennessee, and this was also the place where her love for the romantic and exciting was born. The author remembers days spent running on hillsides and swimming in brooks, and endless hours spent reading books that were her escape from the mundane. It was on a fateful summer day when the teenager wrote her first romantic short story as a submission for a local paper’s contest. Signed under a pseudonym, her story that told of summer and the sun, of a friendship gone beyond its limits, and heart-aching tragedy, garnered praise and the first prize for the young story-teller. She was eighteen, and on that day, she decided that she wanted to write for the rest of her life. The author is happily enjoying the married life with her husband of five years and their two young children. She is an avid traveler and has sought every opportunity to tour places halfway across the globe. While at home, the author makes it a full-time commitment to be a mom, but also spends a lot of her time coming up with new story material. She is often heard saying how difficult it is to balance being a wholesome house mom while writing erotic fiction on the side. While she outwardly claims her inspirations to be the likes of renowned novelists Lisa Kleypas and Anne Rice, she does admit to being a fan of the more current works such as those of the Fifty Shades of Grey author and the Twilight series. On her off times, she can also be seen reading the more wholesome works by Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

Chapter 1
Kurt was surprised when Diana leapt forward and fell into his arms. She was shaking, and tears stained his shoulder. All at once the memories came flooding back, her scent and her sounds. It all opened up feelings that he’d buried deep into his heart. He breathed deeply and squeezed her. He had no idea why she was acting like this, but he was determined to be there for her. It had been a long road back home, but he was glad that he had taken the trip. The moon was high in the sky. Cars whizzed by behind them, but as they held each other it was an entirely serene moment that he wished could last forever. Eventually though they had to break apart.
Diana took a step back and wiped the tears away from her eyes. She sighed in disbelief and gazed upon her returning friend. He seemed different than she remembered. He used to be awkward and withdrawn. Now he stood tall and proud. He had a more rugged look about him as well, and his jaw was peppered with stubble. She instantly felt self-conscious about how she must have appeared, all red-faced and bleary-eyed.
I wish I had known I was going to run into you. I would have looked much better than this.
You look beautiful, as always,
he replied smoothly. What’s wrong?
Oh it’s . . . nothing. What are you doing here? You fell off the map for a little while.
Kurt smirked. Yeah, I ended up having a little bit of an adventure. I felt like I should come back though, I missed home a little bit.
I missed you.
Yeah, it’s been a long time,
he said, rubbing the back of his head. A moment of silence passed between them as the initial shock of seeing each other wore off. There was so much left unspoken between them and so many memories that it was difficult for either of them to know where to begin.
Do you want to grab some pie or something?
he asked. She smiled.
Pie would be awesome,
she said. The two of them fell in beside each other, and the old rhythm returned. They chatted about inane things, neither of them wanting to broach the obvious topics just yet. They went to one of their old haunts, a small restaurant that served
