About this ebook

GENRE: Adult Contemporary Erotic Romance

Book Two: Complications and Intrigue
Camille finds herself frustrated as she goes to Robert Johns’ apartment for her second interview with the man. She needs to get an absolutely flawless profile on the billionaire knowing that the future of her writing career depends on it. She needs to focus with the task at hand and be not distracted with Robert’s charm. Somehow, Robert Johns had managed to seduce her when other subjects who had thought to get her into bed—probably for the purpose of a more favorable interview—had failed. There was just something about him.

Robert makes her an offer that’s nearly impossible to refuse. Something that will propel her to the columnist position she has always dreamed of but it is something that is a violation of her strict professional and personal standards, and she didn't want there ever to be a question about what her motivations were in covering a person or a topic in a particular way. Will she succumb to Robert’s proposition?

Book Three: Decisions and Destiny
Camille meets with her billionaire lover for the last time, trying to resign herself to the fact that, with her writing assignment drawing to a close and her deadlines approaching, she has no further excuse to continue seeing Robert Johns—even though she knows her feelings for him are much deeper than those she’s had for anyone, either subject or lover.

Author

D.C. Chagnon

D.C. Chagnon was born in a quiet little town in Tennessee, and this was also the place where her love for the romantic and exciting was born. The author remembers days spent running on hillsides and swimming in brooks, and endless hours spent reading books that were her escape from the mundane. It was on a fateful summer day when the teenager wrote her first romantic short story as a submission for a local paper’s contest. Signed under a pseudonym, her story that told of summer and the sun, of a friendship gone beyond its limits, and heart-aching tragedy, garnered praise and the first prize for the young story-teller. She was eighteen, and on that day, she decided that she wanted to write for the rest of her life. The author is happily enjoying the married life with her husband of five years and their two young children. She is an avid traveler and has sought every opportunity to tour places halfway across the globe. While at home, the author makes it a full-time commitment to be a mom, but also spends a lot of her time coming up with new story material. She is often heard saying how difficult it is to balance being a wholesome house mom while writing erotic fiction on the side. While she outwardly claims her inspirations to be the likes of renowned novelists Lisa Kleypas and Anne Rice, she does admit to being a fan of the more current works such as those of the Fifty Shades of Grey author and the Twilight series. On her off times, she can also be seen reading the more wholesome works by Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

    Chapter One

Camille found herself at Robert Johns’ apartment building at eight o’clock at night, wondering what exactly she should expect. In the few days since her first interview with the man, she had grappled with the strangeness of their first encounter; it provided an alternative for her constant worries about her job. Camille told herself firmly as she walked up to the front desk to his building, to get clearance to go up, that she was going to keep things strictly professional. Johns had called her earlier in the evening—just after she had left from work—to ask her to come by. At first, she had assumed he had found time in his work schedule to see her. After she had pointed out that she could be at his office in a few minutes, he had clarified that he was already on his way home; she should meet him there.

The change in venue would not have concerned Camille if it weren’t for the fact that they had had sex. She had interviewed several subjects in their own home; but something about visiting Johns at home, when he had seen her all butt naked only days before—when he had made her climax twice—seemed inappropriate to her. Of course it was inappropriate, she thought, even as she rode the elevator up to his penthouse apartment; the whole situation was inappropriate. It was the first time she had ever stepped out of line in her professional life.

Camille knew that most of her contemporaries had had flings with people they interviewed; she had heard the whispering rumors, and seen the evidence of their confirmation. But Camille prided herself on the fact that she was not like that. She was motivated to get the best story, to paint a faithful portrait of her subjects in words. She had believed that the only way to do that was to remain as objective as she possibly could. Sleeping with a subject was the exact opposite of remaining objective. Camille wasn’t sure whether she felt angrier at Johns or at herself at the fact that she had succumbed to a lapse in judgment. She also wasn’t certain if she was angry at Johns because he had seduced her, or because he had been cold afterward, not acknowledging what had happened other than to ask for her phone number; even that he had a perfectly logical, objective reason for wanting.

She shifted her bag on her shoulder as the elevator arrived at the top floor, a hidden bell ringing to announce that she was there. Camille had managed to transcribe the entire interview—though her official transcription left out some of the more probing questions that Johns had asked her. But she was true to her word; she had the copy for him.

The elevator doors opened and Camille stepped out, looking up and down along the hallway. The carpet underfoot was plush, the walls thick and insulated against the possibility of sound. In fact, the hall was so thoroughly soundproofed that it almost seemed to swallow up the small amount of noise that her feet made as she walked through. She found the apartment she wanted and hesitated a moment before knocking on the door. Should she really have agreed to meet Johns on his own turf? Should she have instead told him that she would meet him somewhere else—somewhere public where she might have the benefit of not being seduced? She gave herself a shake, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. Johns had given her no indication that he was interested in more than just the tryst they’d already had. If she assumed that he was looking for more, she would be setting herself up not only for disappointment if he wasn’t, but also to write a less-than-faithful article about the man, colored by her own bitterness and resentment.

She knocked on the door, trying to suppress the rapid beating of her heart. Camille closed her eyes and took a deep breath once more while she waited, forcing herself to stand still. She hadn’t had time to change into anything impressive; her hair was pulled back into a braid to keep it out of her face, and she was wearing the same tee shirt and skirt that she had worn into the office. Camille wondered if that change in the tone of her clothing would keep Johns from being interested in her—and she wasn’t sure if she would be more disappointed or relieved if that was the case.

There was the faintest sound of movement on the other side of the door, followed by a clattering of metal against wood, the turning of the knob, a creak and a pop. Camille almost gasped at the sight of Johns, standing in the opened door, smiling faintly. He was in a tee shirt and jeans, looking even more comfortably casual than she did; Camille was not sure what to think of the fact that he wasn’t in the designer, tailored suit that she had expected to see him in. Camille; come in. Johns opened the door wider and stepped back, gesturing for her to enter.

Camille stepped over the threshold and looked around as she brushed past Johns. His apartment was huge; she thought that his living room alone was the size of her entire unit. Camille’s questing glance took in quiet, sensible luxury:
