It was okay, but there were some major oversights. I know the author probably had a limited timeframe, but he really oversimplified a lot of the concepts. It’s true that visualization is an effective tool, but it must go hand-in-hand with practice and competency. You can’t become a good at basketball player or public speaker just by visualizing.
It’s important to have a realistic grasp of your competency. While negative beliefs are one end of the spectrum, there’s the other side of the coin with people who think they know way more than they do, or are far better than they really are.
The author also makes the claim that if you change beliefs, change in behavior will follow. Anyone who’s dealt with overcoming a bad habit, or trying to develop a good habit can tell you that the two go hand-in-hand. Overcoming a negative belief that you’re no good at talking to people won’t work, unless you also take the plunge and actually start talking to people.
