About this audiobook

Paris Hilton: As You’ve Never Heard Her Before

***An Instant New York Times Bestseller***

From the woman who is credited for launching what we know as the celebrity focused, “brand” driven, social media obsessed popular culture of today, comes an honest and surprising memoir that reckons with that truth, and shows that there is so much more to Paris Hilton than you might believe. This extended edition includes a bonus chapter detailing her motherhood journey.

I was born in New York City on February 17, 1981, three days after Valentine’s Day.

From the time I was a toddler, my brain skipped and flickered with the chemical imbalance of ADHD. Sometimes it was too much.

I’m not bragging or complaining about it, just telling you: This is my brain. It has a lot to do with how this whole book thing is going to play out, because I love run-on sentences—and dashes. And sentence fragments. I’m probably going to jump around a lot while I tell the story.

I came of age during the most turbulent pop culture period ever.

The character I played—part Lucy, part Marilyn—was my steel-plated armor.

People loved her. Or they loved to hate her, which was just as marketable. I leaned into that character, my ticket to financial freedom and a safe place to hide. I made sure I never had a quiet moment to figure out who I was without her. I was afraid of that moment because I didn’t know what I’d find.

I wrote this book in an effort to understand my place in a watershed moment: the technology renaissance, the age of influencers. I also wrote this book so that the world could know who I am today. I focused on key aspects of my life that led to what I am most proud of--how my power was taken away from me and how I took it back, how I built a thriving business, a marriage and a family.

There are so many young women who need to hear this story. I don’t want them to learn from my mistakes; I want them to stop hating themselves for their own mistakes. I want them to laugh and cry and embrace every aspect of who they are with fearlessness and pride. We all have our own brand of intelligence, and, girl, fuck fitting in.

Editor's Note

That’s hot…

What most of us know of Hilton was curated by early aughts reality TV, which painted her as an overly-sexualized fashionista and party girl. This eye-opening memoir delivers a fresh portrait of a surprisingly grounded woman. In “Paris,” Hilton covers sexual abuse, mental health, and mainstream media’s delight in exploiting young women. Gracious and empathetic, the heiress corrects the popular narrative without veering into self-pity — and that’s hot.

This is such a powerful story. All I have to say is: She is not the woman we thought she was.

I loved The Simple Life. I have come to respect Paris Hilton over the years. She is truly misunderstood. I admire the hard work ethic, ethos, and values that she has.

I love how bluntly honest she is. She has my massive respect and so much of my love and support for the work she's doing to change the legislation. #Sliving

I love memoirs that feel honest, raw, and authentic. Paris delivers all of that & then some. Excellent writing as well. Amazing hearing her truth versus the lies put out by tabloids. So crazy!

Well, Paris spoke her truth. I took a few mental and digital notes! Who knew! At times, she plays a dumb blonde, but she's actually dang smart! Less 'f-bombs' would've been appreciated, but I still enjoyed listening to her book!

After watching the documentary on YouTube I found this as a whole experience to know how you can be born trapped in the riches of every dynamic the heiress lifestyle feels as an ease to view; especially someone in the heights of time of paparazzi being viewed as a subjective idea of what is happening.
Along listening to this book it helps those my age view who seen how the universe of the woman was built through sheer obedience of her parental oppression as an heiress.

    Watch. Read. Greet.

It's a good example of never judging a book by its cover in more ways than one. She is a savvy businesswomen and smart beyond your expectations. She's overcome abuse and finally has taken those who abused her to the attention of those who need to know.

I laughed, teared up and related to a lot of it! Well written and super interesting. I’m so glad she was able to put this together and show the world who she truly is. I loved this memoir so much. I didn’t dislike her before but I’ve also never even been a Paris fan either. I have so much respect and compassion for her now!

This book is almost 5 stars, but it’s closer to 5 than 4 so I gave it a 5. I love the narration, the stories, the whit, the humor and I respect her for detailing the hard parts and trauma with candor care and authenticity. I wish she more candidly about the harmful words she said about African Americans and gay people in her 20s. She spoke really briefly on it, apologized for it, acknowledged where that behavior stemmed from, and personally made a boundary for herself about that’s all she’s willing to discuss about it. But I would have wanted more insight in who she was in that moment and how she’s evolved from that. She opened up a lot and this was a quick and important read.

I’m not the kind of person to write a review, but wow! The way in which Paris told her story was gripping, chilling, at times funny, but most of all inspiring. She tells it all so candidly, with so much love and with the overarching theme of how she has overcame the incredibly hard things she went through and, despite everything, has persevered to live to the fullest.
Besides, it all is even more meaningful because she chose to tell this in her own voice. With her guidance, the chapters flew by in moments and I’m left craving for more

It was semi-entertaining… But the type of entertainment where it’s a car crash and you can’t look away lol. Some of the references are just absolutely terrible… Honestly, you might pass on this one I couldn’t finish it.
