About this audiobook
Narrated by Josh Peck
A wonderfully candid memoir from one of the most recognizable faces of a generation, actor, writer, Youtuber, and television superstar, Josh Peck. In his warm and inspiring book, Josh reflects on the many stumbles and silver linings of his life and traces a zigzagging path to redemption. Written with such impressive detail and aching honesty, Happy People are Annoying is full of surprising life lessons for anyone seeking to accept their past and make peace with the complicated face in the mirror.
Josh Peck rose to near-instant fame when he starred for four seasons as the comedic center of Nickelodeon’s hit show Drake & Josh. However, while he tried to maintain his role as the funniest, happiest kid in every room, Josh struggled alone with the kind of rising anger and plummeting confidence that quietly took over his life.
For the first time, Josh reflects on his late teens and early twenties. Raised by a single mother, and coming of age under a spotlight that could be both invigorating and cruel, Josh filled the cratering hole in his self-worth with copious amounts of food, television, drugs, and all of the other trappings of young stardom. Until he realized the only person standing in his way...was himself. Today, with a string of lead roles on hit television shows and movies, and one of the most enviable and dedicated fanbases on the internet, Josh Peck is more than happy, he’s finally, enthusiastically content.
Happy People are Annoying is the culmination of years of learning, growing, and finding bright spots in the scary parts of life. Written with the kind of humor, strength of character, and unwavering self-awareness only someone who has mastered their ego can muster, this memoir reminds us of the life-changing freedom on the other side of acceptance.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoy listening to this book. It showed all sides of you without feeling it was all a why me book

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I liked his style of humor! I’m old enough that I never saw Drake and Josh. He also had some insightful advice about life. “When I got sober, I thought I had conquered my innermost demons and found a new way to live. This was true to a point, but really, getting sober allowed me to see how much work there was to be done.”

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I thought Josh had a lot of potential for a memoir. I think he put way too much personal empowerment crap in the book. I wanted to hear more about his journey with substance abuse, and felt he was very vague about what kind of drugs and drinks. And he has so many hackney'd phrases like "If I can do it, you can too," vibe. He honestly lives up to the title of the book. I feel like he needs to work on his self deprecation humor, he repeats himself alot. By the last chapter I was rolling my eyes because it was so cheesy. And I hated the chapter of him wanting to quit acting when just kidding he doesn't. I love Josh Peck. He has made me laugh so much in my life, and I did laugh a little here and there. But I def feel like he was trying to be a self help guru, and he talked a little at me with his words, vs painting a picture and scene with the five senses. Stick to comedy man! I want more comedy from your life. That's when you shine.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5By far one of the best books I've listened to in a very long time.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Incredible book! Kind of sad in the beggining-middle, I had to put it down for a little bit but I am so glad I picked it back up and finished it. One of my favorite reads this year. Beautiful ending and great message
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very inspiring and insightful, I loved every moment. It really helped me reflect on my own life too. I didn't realize alot until it was said from a different perspective. Especially when it comes to eating and relationships with food. Thank you for this lovely read!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I grew up watching Josh on TV and I was, excuse me, AM a big fan. I related to some of the experiences Josh talked about in this book. Not being famous or anything, but I had my own struggles and dealt with my own hard feelings. Thank you Josh for being vulnerable and sharing your experiences outside of a tv screen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Thank you for sharing your story with the world. Even if you don’t think you are worthy of it you are an inspiring individual.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Okay I was not expecting to cry at the end! This is unwaveringly beautiful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So real and moving. Very funny. I’m happy to be able to hear his story through his mouth.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5He nailed it. Truly. As a millennial, I feel like I grew up with Josh. This book offered a new insight into his struggles and how he overcame them. He just seems so down to earth and relatable. Excellent read. Highly recommend.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was so touching and funny all in one!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very interesting guy with great humor and candor. Didn't know much about him before but truly an interesting book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a great read. I had no idea Josh would have such a powerful story to share. I love how real he is and how he navigated all his disappointments in life- very relatable. Definitely worth the time and read!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was great. The author reads the book to you and I love his humor throughout. I couldn't stop listening. His insight into himself and his own issues is great. I love that he only glazed over Drake Bell's personal issues and only stated one sentence about the whole thing. I am sure he is tired of being asked about it.
