About this audiobook

Read by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey with exclusive bonus material contributed by Rainn Wilson, Creed Bratton, Oscar Nunez, Brian Baumgartner, Steve Carell, Ed Helms, Ellie Kemper, Kate Flannery and Jennifer Garner.

An intimate, behind-the-scenes celebration of beloved The Office co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey’s friendship, and an insiders' view of Pam Beesly, Angela Martin, and the iconic TV show.

Receptionist Pam Beesly and accountant Angela Martin had very little in common when they toiled together at Scranton’s Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. But, in reality, the two bonded in their very first days on set and, over the nine seasons of the series’ run, built a friendship that transcended the show and continues to this day. Sharing everything from what it was like in the early days as the show struggled to gain traction, to walking their first red carpet—plus exclusive stories on the making of milestone episodes and how their lives changed when they became moms—The Office BFFs is full of the same warm and friendly tone Jenna and Angela have brought to their Office Ladies podcast.

What an enjoyable listen! Both Jenna and Angela recall, enthusiastically and in a very positive light, how their friendship and partnership came to fruition during “The Office” days, many “behind the scenes” stories of the series. By their account, there was no drama and animosity among the cast and crew of the show and this is possibly one of the factors that made “The Office” such a hit at the time. The audiobook is uplifting and fun!

Perfect for listening on long train rides. Found myself getting emotional at several parts listening to these ladies' heartfelt narration of their journey to fulfilling their dreams of acting, bonding with their large Office family and most of all, with each other.

You have to be a big fan of the TV show “The Office” to enjoy this book fully, and that is what I am. So, why just three stars out of five? The main reason is something I consider a major flaw in the book: the lack of informational captions with the scores of interesting and entertaining photos scattered throughout the book. Listing the photo credit of the two authors seemed not only redundant, but really lacking. Often the text around the photos gave the reader enough information to know what is going on in the particular picture. However, in many cases, you have no idea who the people are if they aren’t cast members who are recognizable. I can’t understand why the girls did this. It can’t be because they don’t have enough information to properly caption the photos. I can’t imagine it’s because they were lazy. Maybe it was some sort of legal issue. I’m not sure. All I am sure of is this is a major flaw in an otherwise very entertaining book. Getting to know Pam and Angela in this way added to my enjoyment of the TV show, which I still watch on reruns. Angela especially took on a new life since she is obviously not at all like her character on the show. And thank goodness she isn’t. I will listen to the girls’ podcast now having read the book. If you are a big fan of “The Office,” this is must reading for you.

Best for:Fans of either The Office TV show, or The Office Ladies podcastIn a nutshell:Jenna ‘Pam’ Fischer and Angela ‘Angela’ Kinsey share stories of their time on The Office, which led to them becoming best friends.Worth quoting:N/A (audio book)Why I chose it:It was suggested by Audible and sounded funReview:I didn’t watch The Office when it was on - I mean, I’m sure I saw episodes of it at the time but it wasn’t a show I regularly tuned in for. Some of it is just too cringe for me - my secondhand embarrassment is very easily set off - but some of it is really sweet. Once the show ended I watched it on streaming. The book hits on exactly what I think any fan of a TV show wants. Behind the scenes gossip, interesting little nuggets about different famous episodes, deep dives into the main fictional relationships. This one also has the added bonus of learning about the real-life friendship of the two authors.Unsurprisingly if you are familiar with these two actresses, the gossip is all kind and sweet. It sounds like everyone who worked on the show was just lovely. Really the only time there’s any tension is when discussing the fact that the show (I’m assuming the network, NBC) provided no maternity leave pay for Jenna Fischer, nor did they come up with ways to shoot around her leave, but they would accommodate other actors who had to be away when filming movies. Not cool, and I really appreciate that she spoke out about this, and the hardship of coming back to work five weeks post-partum because she needed the paycheck. I’m not familiar with the podcast that Fischer and Kinsey started, similar to West Wing Weekly, but after listening to this book I’ll probably check it out.Recommend to a Friend / Keep / Donate it / Toss it:Recommend to a Friend (who loved The Office)

Fun read! Not that I expected any less from The Office Ladies. I was happy to discover that while a good bit of the book's contents had been covered in their podcast, not all of it. If you're a fan of The Office, it's a must have.
