About this audiobook

“I believe you have something of mine, Zach.”

The stranger’s accusation throws Zach Owens for a loop. He’s never seen this man in his life, and he’s not prepared when he finds out what they have in common—their boyfriend, Jake.

Make that ex-boyfriend. With the jerk out of the picture, Zach hurries after the stranger to apologize… which quickly leads to some sizzling hot revenge sex.

Despite starting on the wrong foot, Nathan Forrester can’t get enough of the sexy movie theater owner. Still, he’s jaded and distrustful—especially when Jake keeps materializing in Zach’s presence despite Zach insisting that relationship is over.

With a devious ex-boyfriend trying to sabotage their fledgling relationship, Zach and Nathan need to learn to trust each other, or they’ll both wind up with nothing.

Editor's Note

Rebound Romance...

What would happen if you discovered your long-term boyfriend was cheating on you? And that the sidepiece thought he was the main squeeze? In Witt’s “Nine-Tenths of the Law,” the two exes ditch the cheater and end up getting together. But there’s not an immediate happy ever after ending; the two are naturally hesitant about getting into something serious so soon after their respective breakups, and they’ve both got other major life issues going on. Witt’s writing is clear and evocative, and it’s easy to root for both heroes.

This is my second time listening to this book and it was as good as the first time. My new goal is to listen to every single book by L A Witt available.

The story was basic cozy romance. The narrator just grated on my nerves. He wasn't bad or good.Sort of like a basic blue shirt...does the job but definitely more exciting options available.

Another slam dunk by L.A. Witt
Zach the movie theater owner and Nathan the Lawyer are both cheated on by Jake the nobody knows what he does. Great first chapter!
The characters are great. Zach is ready to move on. Nathan is super gun shy and it is difficult to trust. It's not an out of the gate happy ending. They go through real stuff that is hard for a lot of people to get past.
    Also there are cats.
I would recommend this for Smutty Book Club. It was super hot. Even a bit of bondage.... as a trust exercise.
I listened to this on Scribd. Andrei Lash was an excellent narrator.

I realky liked this story, it wasn't full of fluff, just honest emotions. Loved it

First half of the book was basically just pointless sex, and at one point I actually stopped to think "Wait, what was the book supposed to be about again?" before I remembered the description.

Once the trust issues started, the story finally gained a sense of direction (though the distrust started very abruptly and out of nowhere) and Nathan was developed a little bit more than just "he's a lawyer and has a goatee".

I've read worse books, but this was definitely a far cry from a masterpiece.

I was just expecting fluff when I picked this out. Definitely didn't expect a surprisingly realistic and nuanced take on relationships. As much as I enjoy romance novels, they do have a tendency to portray unhealthy dynamics as romantic, but every time I expected this book to do that I was pleasantly surprised by the opposite. Honestly kind of a breath of fresh air. It's still very hot, and still plenty romantic and a bit cheesy at times, but with a nice focus on realism that to me makes it stand out in the genre.

Enjoyable, but the lack of trust theme got kind of old.

Very juicy. The narrator did a good job. But the names at each chapter made me think it would alternate between pov's but it was only ever Zack's. One chapter said Nathan, but that too was just Zack. It had me pretty confused in the beginning and was a little distracting, as I kept waiting for Nathan's pov. Other than that, it was a cute little story.

This book really explores how the intricacies of trust are so important to a lasting relationship. The characters are believable and lovable. Plot is unique.

Mostly enjoyable story about two guys who were unknowingly dating the same man - one for 6 months, the other for 4 years. As they work through the betrayal they connect with one another, but the ex (Jake) tries to come between them and jealousy and lack of trust is a continuing problem. Nathan in particular finds it hard to trust Zach and while that formed the conflict in the story, it did get old. While I suppose that was the point (the story is told from Zach's POV), it meant that the end kind of fizzled for me and I'm not sure I bought into Nathan's about face - what? he just decides and it's all better? Some of the sex scenes seemed a bit on the repetitive side but overall, it was an enjoyable enough story.
