About this audiobook

From #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Starts with Us and It Ends with Us, Colleen Hoover’s romantic, emotion-packed debut novel unforgettably captures all the magic and confusion of first love, as two young people forge an unlikely bond before discovering that fate has other plans for them.

Following the unexpected death of her father, eighteen-year-old Layken becomes the rock for both her mother and younger brother. She appears resilient and tenacious, but inside, she's losing hope. Then she meets her new neighbor Will, a handsome twenty-one-year-old whose mere presence leaves her flustered and whose passion for poetry slams thrills her.

Not long after a heart-stopping first date during which each recognizes something profound and familiar in the other, they are slammed to the core when a shocking discovery brings their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together and the forces that tear them apart. Only through the poetry they share are they able to speak the truth that is in their hearts and imagine a future where love is cause for celebration, not regret.

I usually love Colleen Hoover books but this one felt a bit too Highschool for me. There was ZERO spice and honestly not even that much tension so it felt a little flat. I kept waiting and waiting for something, ANYTHING to happen and it didn’t.

I loved the story however it was hard to think like a 18 year old. I thought Lake was acting very childish and immature. Will was too. I would say it’s a book for teens.

Not a book I’d recommend. I found I was unable to connect with the main character and the whole story had a high school/teen vibe I did not enjoy.

If I didn't know better I would think a just finished a book by a third grader. It's absolutely the worst book I have ever read.

    Depth- it had none.
A piece of easygoing romantic fantasy, forgotten tomorrow.

As usual, Colleen has outdone herself. This was filled with tears of happiness and sadness. Loss and frustration. Hope and healing.

I liked the story idea. Aside from that, in today’s world Will would have ended up in jail. The character of Lake seemed mainly too immature to have an adult romantic relationship. Thought it odd that her graduation was not addressed but Will’s was

Loved the story, but not the reader! The pronunciation of “y’all” made it feel very foreign and weird. She also made it feel way more immature and un-poetic.

Highly recommend READING this one, not listening.
