About this audiobook
A Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover comes a novel that explores life after tragedy and the enduring spirit of love.
When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her—until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.
Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked it. As usual twists and turns. It hasn't been my favorite but I was entertained and wanted to get to the end to solve the mysteries !
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the first books I have read by this author and I LOVED it! Absolutely great read! Highly recommend
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I thought it was OK, but the way the reviews raved about this book didnt match. It says if you loved Verity you will love Layla. There is no comparison. This was slow and dragged. Twist at the end, but not jaw dropping.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very original plot with twists and turns that keep the reader guessing. I liked the unique character of the “interviewer” and his role in the plot. (No spoilers.) Layla & Leads were fun characters & their love story definitely was unique.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This definitely was different, completely different and confusing and I don't know what to say!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Captivating from the start! So many plot twists! 8/10 loved!!

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Not a fan of the person reading the book and the story line reminded me allot of that show the affair… this book had my attention until I realized it’s about “ghosts” which essentially means a demon possessed her body. Hard. Pass. Love Colleen Hoover but this book just…. Wasn’t it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a book of romance. The man finds the girl that he wants to marry. And then something happens. The reader can guess what will happen. Fifty years ago, readers would have been outraged with a fiction like this - where a body is taken over by a ghost. Now, people are more open to believe in the afterlife. Nevertheless, for me it was exciting; a page turner.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5OMG!! This book had me hooked from start to finish! This is actually the first Colleen Hoover book that I have read, but it definitely will not be my last!
Anyone who likes mysteries, thrillers, paranormal or romance novels this one if for you!!
It begins with a couple meeting and falling in complete love! Love at first sight! Everything was going well in their relationship until one of his unstable exes finds them and things from that point on become tumultuous!!
He tries to rekindle their love by bringing her to the first place they met and fell in love. Well needless to say the place they are staying is haunted!!
The only thing I would have changed would’ve been that it lasted longer lol!
You will not believe the unbelievable twist at the end!! Y’all this is a MUST READ!!!1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was hoping to be more like Verity, but it was definitely not. It has a little bit of a creepy vibe, but nothing like Verity, and probably only the first quarter of the book until the ghost is no longer scary. On its own, I will say it was an OK book. I wouldn't say I loved it but didn't dislike it either. It was a fast read and I did want to see what happened, but supernatural is not really my jam. And I wasn't really expecting it. But I went with it. And I enjoyed the characters and the twist got me. If you like some supernatural, then I think you'd really like this book!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I went into this book entirely blind and am glad that I did! This was my first paranormal romance experience, and I'm not sure I would have picked this book up if I knew what it was about. But i loved the mystery in it, the suspense, the romance, the conflict - I felt myself flip flopping back and forth about whether I agreed with Leeds or thought he was a royal jerk! Any book that can make me feel such strong (and varied) opinions about the characters is good by me!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What happens when we die? Do we cease to exist or move onto another plane? These are the questions Layla has upon entering a whirlwind romance with Leeds. After an incident with one of Leed's ex, Layla's personality changes and he hopes returning to the bed and breakfast where they fell in love will help her become her old self.
Once they arrive at the bed and breakfast, strange things start to happen. Layla has memory lapses and things begin to move on their own. Could the inn be haunted or is someone please tricks on Leeds? Leeds will get more answers than he is ready for.
As a Colleen Hoover fan, I was anxiously awaiting this book and it did not let me know. This is a new genre for Hoover and I believe she does an amazing job in telling the story. I found the story to be interesting and it kept me reading. I found the book hard to put down at times and only did so when I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a ride! Intense and gripping, even in the slower places. Although a love story is central to the book it is way more complex than that. Constantly evolving, this leaves you wondering what on Earth is going to happen next.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I thought that this was really good! This is only the second Colleen Hoover book that I have picked up. I loved Regretting You when I read it last year so I was really excited to read more of her work. I tend to really enjoy paranormal stories so I was especially drawn to this book. I found this to be a really fast read that I enjoyed. Leeds and Layla seem like they are meant for each other from the moment they first see each other. They meet at a wedding where Leeds was playing the bass with the band and Layla is enjoying herself by dancing, badly. They clicked right away and the chemistry between them was amazing. Then there is an incident that leaves Layla fighting for her life and everything changes. Leeds hopes to help her heal so he takes to her to the home that they met at during the wedding. That is when everything gets really weird. This book was different than anything I have ever read. I liked the way that the story is presented with some glimpses of things to come interspersed with Leeds and Layla's chronological story. I liked that we knew that things would get really weird from the start and I was eager to see just how it would happen. I will say that there were some points in this book that I wasn't sure that I was going to like where it was going. There were some twists that I did not see coming which made everything work out so much better than I could have hoped for. I would recommend this book to others. Both the story and the characters intrigued me and kept me guessing until the end. I definitely plan to read more from this talented author.I received a digital review copy of this book from Montlake Romance via NetGalley.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors. I was not sure about this one, but I knew I would still read it as soon as possible. I definitely recommend going into this one knowing as little as possible. This one took me a little longer to get into and to buy into the story. It is very hard to put my thoughts into a review without spoilers. All I can really say is that everything with Willow and Layla is very surface level until the reveals. I did not really love this as I did not really connect or fall in love with the characters like I normally would with one of CH stories (but it makes much more sense later why it was this way).I still found myself lost in the story though and I did not want to put it down. I wanted to know where everything would go and what direction it would take. There are twists along the way. I do wish it would have taken a little different turn as I did predict what was going to happen for the most part.Overall, I still really enjoyed this one.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5***Review MAY contain spoilers***Wow!!!! What did I just read? A romance, thriller, paranormal great book. Just so different from anything I’ve ever read and the something different I definitely needed. I have all Colleen Hoover’s books on my TBR List, but until now, have only read on (It Starts With Us) and loved it. Leeds and Layla have instant chemistry when they meet and fall in love. Then tragedy strikes, and things seem to change slowly in the other direction. In an effort to see if things can return to their previous normal, Leeds takes Layla back to the place where they met. But, he isn’t prepared to meet Willow, who he is inexplicably drawn to. To reveal anything more, would be to possibly give away a hint of what is the best part of the book.Ms. Hoover totally sucked me in from the first chapter with the lust of Leeds and Layla. Great characters that you will love. I totally had goosebumps as the story took a dramatic turn I could have never imagined, and was actually spooked out. Then it just kept sucking me down that rabbit hole till I finished it this morning. I kept asking so many questions of Leeds as he was going thru this, and Ms. Hoover revealed all in her own good time. The Interview part was NOT what I initially thought it was, what a slow burn! The only thing I would add is an Epilogue for 1 year after the ending of the story....because I HAVE to know more. If you are looking to get out of a reading rut, pick this book up, especially if it’s out of your normal genre. You won’t be disappointed. #bookhangoverThanks to Ms. Hoover, Montlake Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone.
