About Sharon:
Sharon Mexal has a PhD in human medical genetics and has spent the last decade involved clinical diagnostics and clinical trials, helping patients understand their genetic risk to inheriting cancer or if their cancer reoccurred based off results from a blood draw. She is also a 10+ year melanoma survivor and has used her running as a platform to share her personal story and professional expertise to spread awareness for early skin cancer detection and sun safety. Through her running, Sharon has raised thousands of dollars for various melanoma nonprofits that contribute to improved education, research and treatments. While significant progress in advancing melanoma research has been made in the past decade, she is dedicated to continuing running marathons for melanoma until every case is completely curable.
