Description

Today, I am excited to share with you the first episode of The Manxiety Podcast, hosted by my colleague, Dr. Nima Rahmany.
As I will be an occasional guest on the show, I'm thrilled to kick off our dialogue with a deep dive into the complex topic of trauma bonds.
Join us as we chat about how these bonds from childhood impact our relationships.
Trauma bonds are like glitches from our past that mess up how we relate to others. It's a cycle—the cycle involves love bombing, devaluing, and discarding.
We talk about how things like oxytocin (the love hormone) and daydreams play into these bonds, making them feel addictive and hard to break.
But here's the kicker: realizing what's going on and seeing our relationships for what they really are can help us shake these patterns.
We also tackle the tough stuff—like why men often struggle to ask for help and why it's key to be proactive in breaking free from these bonds.
It's not easy to ditch the shame and masks we've been carrying, but by sharing our own stories and seeking practical advice, we can start to untangle these knots.
Thank you for listening, you can find me @theanxietymd and Dr. Nima @drnima on IG if you have any questions.

I am an anxious doctor. Or at least I WAS an anxious doctor. After literally decades of suffering from intractable anxiety, and seeing over 50 different types of healers I found my way to heal my anxiety through very unconventional (for a medical doctor at least) means. In 2013 I was so anxious I considered suicide and a friend suggested I try LSD, and although that scared the crap out of me it showed me the path to healing. You don't have to do LSD to heal, I took it for you! I'm a medical doctor, neuroscientist and intuitive. (I know, common combination!) I found my way out and it is counterintuitive and very non conventional (but not scary!). I will show you the way out too, you just have to listen to me, dammit!
