"I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband." (Revelation 21:2)"Whether you're male or female, if you're a part of God's universal church, then you are part of the bride of Christ. Through this imagery, scripture reveals the kind of eternal intimacy we get to have with the God of the universe. He treasures us and He's prepared a way to make a home with us forever. Through the finished work of Christ on the cross to the way His Spirit dwells in us and eventually through setting up His dwelling place on Earth, which is what this verse is about. When the New Jerusalem descends from Heaven to Earth, we will dwell with God in eternal intimacy. That is a day to look forward to! Jesus says He's coming soon and I say, "Come Lord Jesus" because he's where the joy is!
