Description
Our bodies and brains are different during each phase of our cycle, so our food, exercise and self-care should be different each week, too, If we want to look and feel our best all month long. If you've been living in a "same way everyday" kind of way, you're not alone. In today's episode Cody and Jess talk about how the widespread cultural belief that we are suppose to repeat the same rituals, every 24-hours - have the same morning routine, or exercise the same way day-in and day-out - is actually leading us girls down the wrong path and causing inflammation and promoting fat-storage, which can cause so much shame and frustration, when it feels like "we are doing everything right. This insistence on doing the the same thing day-in and day-out does cater to a male's hormonal biological clock, but not ours. Men follow the same predictable pattern everyday: the 24-hour circadian rhythm. We girls have a unique biochemistry. We actually have two biological clocks, the circadian rhythm and the infradian rhythm. The infradian rhythm is linked to our menstrual cycle and it powerfully affects our brain, metabolism, microbiome, immune system, stress-response system and our reproductive system. As women we benefit when we understand this unique internal clock and we eat, exercise and work in ways that support our infradian rhythm, as opposed to following diet, fitness, and work trends that disrupt it. Tune in, you'll want to hear about what we can do to live in sync with our internal clocks to look and feel our best all month long!Did you learn something new today? Please let us know!
