Mike Gordon attended the Rochdale College of Art. But it wasn't until 1983 that he started his freelance career in children's books and greeting cards. Then in 1993 he escaped gray, rainy England and moved to Santa Barbara, California where he works harder than ever. DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to all of those people who, like me, have struggled with weight, body image or social confidence and have blamed the food they eat. To all of those who have tried multiple diet regimes and have deprived themselves for years. To all of those whose weight, shape and size have yoyoed over the years without lasting success

This book is dedicated to you. May you find peace and contentment in your relationship with yourself and your food.

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS BOOK

Simple, practical, and even revolutionary. Mike Gordon zeros in on our most basic behaviours to change our attitudes toward food and eating. Essential reading for any of us who want a healthier and more joyful relationship with food

Michael Parise (Life & Spirit Coach, Tampa, FL, USA)

"Love food AND manage it? Mike Gordon, in his latest book, has surpassed all that I know and have learned, in over half a century of food failures and fussiness. Shopping backwards?? Plenty of new food for thought here."

    Juliah Faith (Teacher, Binaural Composer)

"Mr Mike Gordon will surprise and delight in his fresh approach to living your joy! He's taken the fear and guilt out of food for me."

    Ruth V. (Project Manager)

"I can recommend Mike Gordon’s latest book ‘LOVE FOOD: Let it love you’. I read it recently and put the ideas into practice. I’ve lost 7kg (15lbs) in less than 2 months and feel much better in myself. I’m starting to have less knee and hip pain too.

I must say its strategies are something I have not read about before and believe me I have read just about every diet book and tried almost every diet known to man. If you buy one thing for yourself, get this book now.

I’m going to get off the computer and concentrate on eating my dinner without the computer. Even my husband approves."

    Jan Swinhoe (Homemaker)

Mike Gordon’s ideas on mindful eating are exactly right. It has helped me slow down my intake, eat less, and appreciate flavour more. I'm glad to see it in this book. By far the most valuable take-away for me (pardon the pun) was the bulk food preparation, because I'm shopping with a plan, to get ingredients to make homemade food, which I then freeze away in reasonable sized portions to have to hand when needed.

    Chapter 1 - Introduction

    Jeez, I’m getting fat!

How often have we said that to ourselves?

    Or maybe it’s more like:

    ·           I need to get into my... (pick an outfit of choice)

    ·           Summer’s coming. I can’t go to the beach like this

    ·           Getting out of this chair never used to be so hard

    ·           I can’t bear to look in that mirror

    ·           My breathing is terrible

    ·           My arthritis is getting worse every day.

Yes, there’s probably as many reasons to lose weight as there are people trying to.

And there are probably as many fad diets as there are food gurus out there

Given all of those reasons and resources, how come we’re all so fat and it never seems to get any better? How come we yo-yo with our weight? How come we always fall off the wagon with our diets?

Well the answer is simple. Fat is not a food issue. It’s not the food’s fault that we’re fat.

No, really, it’s NOT the food’s fault.

    So, what’s going on?

If you look closely, you’ll see I’ve made a subtle distinction between weight and fat.  And if you look even closer, you’ll see that none of the things I suggest we’re saying to ourselves include either of the words fat or weight.

That’s right, NONE of them - fat and weight are code for something more important that’s going on.

So, again, what is going on here?

Well, it’s simple. Our issues are rarely to do with our actual weight in pounds or kilogrammes. Nor is it about the number of inches or centimetres around our waistlines.

No, it’s much more about what our bodies are allowing us to do. It could be the sensory pleasures of life, or the social connections we make, or the spiritual impact of how we view ourselves.

That’s where this food management guide comes in.

How would it feel if I said:-

    ·         We can eat anything we want

    ·         We can wear whatever we want

    ·         We can go wherever we want

    ·         We can hang out with whomever we want

    ·         We can get fitter, suppler, healthier, more energetic than we are now

    ·         We can reduce the wear and tear on our joints and improve our mobility

    ·         We
