Extreme Rapid Weight Loss With Hypnosis - Flossie Ang
Chapter 1: The Dieting Mentality and Its Flaws
To begin this book, we will delve into the diet mentality and some of the drawbacks that come with it. I will begin by defining what exactly I mean when I say the diet industry
and the negative impacts that this industry can have on your mental health, weight loss goals, and overall quality of life.
What is the Dieting Mentality?
The dieting industry encompasses all of the books, television programs, supplements, meal plans, and diet subscriptions that we are bombarded with each and every day. This industry makes millions of dollars each year on people just like you who want to change their lives but are unsure where to start.
The dieting mentality is the idea that by simply following a diet, reading a dieting book, or purchasing diet foods,
you will find weight loss and an overall improvement in your life. This couldn't be further from the truth.
Throughout this book, I will be helping you to bring your mindset away from dietary thinking and toward a new, more productive way of viewing your relationship with food and hunger.
Why The Dieting Mentality is Flawed
At first thought, the diet industry may seem like a positive and important industry in today’s world.
However, all of the companies and businesses involved in the diet industry rely on the fact that you never find success. They remain in business because people never find success in their products! The reason for this is that it keeps us going back- spending more money on things like new books, different supplements, or new meal plan prescriptions.
More specifically, have you ever wondered why there are so many diets available for you to choose from? Diets like Atkins, Dr. Oz, and Weight Watchers? There's a reason why there are so many of them, and the reason is that none of them work in the long run! The creators of these diets are aware of this, and that is what makes them so much money. If any of the popular diets could help you lose weight permanently by offering a regime that you could follow for the rest of your life, there wouldn't be so many of them.
While they might help you lose weight fast, people will inevitably grow tired of depriving themselves and will stop following the diet altogether.
Think about it- can you see yourself completely eliminating carbs or counting calories every meal for the next 20 years of your life? The answer is likely no, and THAT’S OK. In this book, we take a completely different approach to finding health and happiness, and we will not focus on employing a dieting mindset but rather rejecting that mindset.
When it comes to being healthy and taking good care of your body, the best method is not a diet but a holistic health philosophy. This philosophy aims to help you connect to your body and listen to what it is telling you.
The Main Problem With Conventional Dieting
The main problem with conventional dieting is that it's not sustainable, but this should not discourage you. The diet industry is focused on making you feel like you are not perfect enough and that if you try a different diet, you may find success. This leaves you hopping from diet to diet, never feeling any better about where you are.
Taking an approach that is focused on perfection leaves you feeling down on yourself and feeling like a failure. Since this method leaves you feeling as though you are always seeking but never finding perfection, any progress that you have
made will always feel like it is still not enough. You will feel this way no matter how far you have come or how much progress you have made. Since you will never achieve perfection- this is impossible for anyone, you will never feel satisfaction. You will never allow yourself to celebrate your achievements, and you will forever be chasing the right diet,
when in fact, there is no right diet.
Hunger
In diet culture, hunger is seen as an enemy. This could not be further from the truth. Hunger is not an enemy but rather a source of information for you regarding what your body is asking for and what it needs. Most of us have no idea how to listen to our bodies, so this will be a large area of focus throughout this book.
What Can Hunger Tell Us About Our Bodies?
If you wait until you are too hungry before you eat, then you will be much more likely to overeat because you will then feel ravenous and will want to eat everything in sight.
If, instead, you choose to adhere to your hunger and eat when your body tells you that it needs sustenance, you will be much more likely to eat just the right amount and you and your body will be satisfied rather than completely stuffed afterward.
Instead of feeling shameful and angry that you are feeling hungry, feel happy that your body is telling you what it needs and that you can provide it with nutrients for it to keep working hard for you!
Humans should not be putting themselves through boot camp every time they feel hungry, and this method does not adhere to that type of mindset.
One of the reasons that are listening to your body is such a successful and cherished form of eating is that it allows the body to lead the mind in the right direction to seek out its needs. For example, did you know that your cravings could be giving you much more information than you give them credit for? Below, we will look at what your cravings could mean and why this means that you should let your body guide you’re eating choices. This section will serve as evidence that your body is much more knowledgeable than you give it credit for.
A craving is an intense longing for something (in this case food), that comes about intensely and feels urgent. In our case, that something is a very specific type of food usually. When we have cravings for certain foods, it can mean more than what it seems. While we may think that this just means we are feeling hungry or we enjoy the type of food we are craving, this may indicate that we are low on certain vitamins or minerals in our body, and the body thinks that we can get it from certain food, so it tells us that we want that food. The body is trying to help itself by telling you what to eat, and to us, this feels like a craving.
Sometimes the things we crave won't actually be the best way to get the vitamins or minerals that we need. Having the nutrients that we need in the right amounts in our bodies helps regulate our mood, hunger, and cravings. So, when one or more of these nutrients are low, it is hard for us to regulate our appetite and our cravings, and this is why we tend to crave foods that are not actually the very best ways to receive these nutrients. For this reason, understanding your cravings could help you give your body exactly what it is longing for.
Chocolate And Magnesium
When we crave chocolate, it is said that this means our body is low on Magnesium. Chocolate contains high levels of Magnesium, but only if it is dark chocolate. When we crave chocolate, though, it is usually in the form of a doughnut or a chocolate bar, which contains lots of sugar, fat, and oil. Next time you crave chocolate, it may be because of a magnesium deficiency. Other signs of a magnesium deficiency can include general sugar cravings. However, the problem is that when we consume sugar, our body uses Magnesium to process it. Therefore, we crave sugar and sugary chocolate. Still, if we give in to this craving, we may actually end up depleting our already low magnesium stores even more, which can make us crave chocolate and sugar all over again. The cycle would continue without us being any the wiser.
The chocolate itself is quite rich in nutrients; however, it is the actual cocoa that holds all of these nutrients. Therefore, if you are going to eat chocolate to ease your craving and your need for Magnesium, make sure that it is dark chocolate, at least 70% or more in its cocoa content. Cocoa contains high levels of Magnesium, iron, fiber, and antioxidants, so while you are getting your magnesium fix, you will also be getting your fill of other good nutrients that your body needs. If you have low magnesium levels, there are many other ways you can get it as well. Eating nuts (like almonds and cashews) or beans are a great choice as they are high in Magnesium and may give your body exactly what it needs. If you crave chocolate, try eating these magnesium-rich foods at your next meal, and your chocolate craving may just dissipate.
Hydration
If you are craving juice or pop or other sugary drinks like this, consider that you might be dehydrated and, therefore, thirsty. Sometimes we see drinks in our fridge, and since we are thirsty, we really want them. Sometimes though, we are actually just in need of water, and this would be the best thing to quench our thirst, but these other drinks are always going to be
