Preface

I have been very lucky to be a schoolteacher, because I have learned a lot. I wrote this book based on feedback from my students. I found that whenever I talked about tips to help kids empower themselves, they nearly craved the information. This book helps children learn how to be their own genies. This book teaches children how to create what they want in life; for example, getting good at something like a sport, making friends, doing well as a student, or playing a musical instrument. It also gives kids tools to protect themselves from much of what they come across in life.

I realized many kids are not receiving help on how to deal with the messages they receive daily. Many messages come from outside of the home, and for some kids, there is no advice. Kids might not receive any information on how to deal with much they come in contact with. Thus this book is written from my heart to assist you, the reader! My intent was to write this book in an understandable manner, with plenty of examples and illustrations.

I wrote this book partly based on my own experience. I created tools that worked for me. I know the teachings in this book can be followed in spite of what one is up against in life. My hope is this book will help kids get through whatever they are experiencing, above it rather than below it all. We all experience loss, harsh days, and attacks. Some experience heavier life stuff than others. Can we use these experiences to strengthen ourselves? Yes, we can!

We each have been granted a choice in how we live our lives. That is truly exciting! Realize when you read this book that if you follow it, it is by choice. You don’t have to do what this book suggests. You follow it only if it makes sense to you.

This book gives you tools to help you live your life the way you want to live it. It also helps you learn how to control your thoughts and emotions. This book is about you and your connection to the amazing person you are. Making the connection to that amazing you is entirely up to you. I hope this book serves you well.

I give a huge, heartfelt thank you to my two beautiful, spirited daughters, Heather Lee and Daniele Ann. You two have been the sunshine of my life and my pillars of strength. I always made it through because of you two.
