Seeing Is Achieving - Invisible Walls & How to Break Through to Achieve Success - Wes Stahler
Chapter One
Invisible Walls
My mentors, Shirley and Charles Schreiber, who taught me well, always said this,
It is NOT what you know, it is what you USE of what you know
.
Too often someone might say to themselves, I will never have the high success I dream of. I am just not blessed with a lot of potential.
Perhaps they are thinking that other people have so much more going for them than they do. What a common but terrible excuse for not being successful and having what you want in life.
Me the Average Guy
Growing up, you would say I was average at best. I had average looks, with average grades. I liked sports, but didn’t excel in any one sport. And oh yea, my personality...let’s just say I was super shy. I never even dated once in high school. I was too shy to ask a girl out. Let’s just say, I wasn’t seen by myself, or anyone else, as having a lot of potential
coming out of high school. OK Wes, what about your college experience? Well college was no better except I did manage to find a pretty girl I really loved and soon married.
After just two years of college, I went looking for work to support my family, armed only with my 2 year Associates Degree from a community college. The best thing people would say about me is, He is such a nice young man.
What is interesting is those I envied in high school and college, the ones with the good looks, good grades, very popular and overall big potential...they weren’t always ultimately successful in life. Potential is no guarantee of later success.
The Missing Key
Remember what I shared from my mentors. It is not what you know and have going for you that counts. It is knowing how to apply what you know.
This is the missing key: We must take the right actions to bring about the desired results. Bottom line: It is knowing how to apply the right knowledge to the right action that finally brings about the desires we crave.
This truth is confirmed in real life. Many of the most successful people in the world will tell you, they did not have many good things going for them. They did not have education, looks, etc., yet despite this, they reached their dreams and beyond. So how did they become successful and how can you?
What do you need to know and what do you do first?
If you went to the airport and walked up to the ticket counter, what is the person working behind the counter going to ask you?
Maybe they might ask
