A LETTER FROM THE AUTHOR
I am excited about taking you through a healthy weight loss journey. If you’re anything like me, you are probably ready to try something different by making a lifestyle change.
My own desire for transformation began when I was in my mid-twenties. I was in need of a spiritual, physical, and emotional makeover. I didn’t struggle with weight loss because in the Haitian culture, being a curvy woman was the accepted norm, and being referred to as thick
in the African American culture was considered a compliment. However, I often struggled with making healthy choices, and being consistent with them. It was easy for me to get started on something but it was hard to stay on course. I also suffered with anxiety and fear of failure. As a result of my self-inflicted stress, I began eating poorly and my relationship and devotion time with God declined.
One day I just got tired of trying to be in control, all the while still losing control. I then got on my knees and prayed to God and voiced, I NEED HELP!
I believe true sustainable success in life comes from God. Any attempt without God for success produces stress, anxiety, frustration and so forth. As a lifestyle health consultant, I teach that healing of the spirit, mind and body is imperative. The victory in overcoming anxiety was a result of prayer, faith, and a determination to be holistically healthy by making healthier dietary changes as well as taking on a positive mindset. In addition, I discovered the beauty of forgiveness for myself and others. I made the decision to let go of the past so I could move forward. I decided to no longer hold on to my past mistakes and failures. Each day I took the initiative to learn to trust God more with my life, my choices, my health, my present and my future. God has helped me through my healthy lifestyle changes, now I can assist others to "Be a Happier, Healthier and Fearless You!"
Everyone has a breaking point. My breaking point happened when I was READY! I’d had enough. You have to be ready, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually to be successful. I’m not saying you won’t have some setbacks, but when and if you do, you will pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start over again.
By purchasing Eat to Lose you have already taken the first step of displaying that you are ready. Now that you are prepared to succeed, ready to get up and stay up, don’t allow anything or anyone to hold you back. I am familiar with the desire to do something different, to feel better, look better and do better. Therefore, allow me to assist you toward your success.
In my research on eating healthy, I’ve stumbled across a series of books worth reading, such as, Ministry of Healing by Ellen G. White, Counsel on Diet and Foods by Ellen G. White, Counsels on Health by Ellen G. White, Health Power by Hans Hiehl, and Encyclopedia of Foods, just to name a few. The collection of books listed has helped me to understand health spiritually, mentally and physically. In addition, through research and training, I have gained a wealth of knowledge as it relates to nutrition, health and weight loss. I encourage you to read more for your own personal educational and spiritual growth on your journey toward being healthy.

INTRODUCTION
Eat to Lose Nutrition Boot Camp, is not just another weight loss program, it’s a life style.
Americans are stated to be the most overweight people in the world. Although that might sound harsh, it is true. Obesity is one of our leading public health problems. It is so serious a problem that 36 million people are at significant medical risk. (Ludington, 2000)
As alarming as this sounds, it makes so much sense why diet fads and quick fix weight loss gimmicks as well as, surgeries are so popular in America!
Too many people have fallen prey to various diet fads that promise quick results. Many of these quick weight loss programs promote unhealthy and extreme practices. It is recorded that 40-50 percent of Americans between 35 and 59 years of age was on some type of diet at some point in their life.
However, the truth is, unless we make consistent lifestyle changes that have long lasting effects, such as eating whole foods, proper rest, and moderate physical activity, our efforts are in vain.
Why is Eat to Lose better than any diet fad? Because 90% of dieters who go on diet fads or quick weight loss gimmicks regain the weight they lost within a year, plus extra! Yo-yo dieting is not only unhealthy but it is also discouraging. Going back and forth, up and down can shake a person’s self-esteem psychologically.
Eat to Lose, is not a diet, it is a lifestyle. Making healthy lifestyle changes has a longer lasting affect than any diet. Eat to Lose doesn’t just focus on what you are eating but what’s eating you. It takes on a holistic approach, dealing with the spirit, mind and body.
Should I throw in the towel now and give up?
Before you surrender with your white flag, it is important to note that making healthy lifestyle changes should be sustainable and does take time and effort. But I assure you it is worth it and you are worth it. Don’t think of it as work, because you will dread it, but think of all the pleasure it will bring you as you begin to notice the results. It won’t be an overnight process; it will be moment by moment, day by day, week by week and month by month. Remember all things desired and achieved take a measure of patience and sacrifice.
Here is a list of reasons why you should not give up, but instead Eat to Lose:
When compared with individuals maintaining normal, healthy weight, people who are overweight or obese are:
• three times more likely to suffer from heart disease;
• four times more likely to suffer from high blood pressure;
• five times more likely to develop diabetes and elevated blood cholesterol;
• at higher risk of developing certain cancers such as, colon, rectum, prostrate, breast, cervix, uterus, and ovaries, and to suffer from osteoarthritis, and low back pain;
• more likely have sleep disorders.
What are the benefits to Eat to Lose?
• Shopping list.
• Daily schedule.
• Video tutorials.
• Easy to follow meals.
• You don’t have to starve.
• It promotes a healthy lifestyle.
• You don’t have to count calories.
• Eat to Lose Facebook support group.
• You have a variety of healthy foods to eat.
• It guarantees gradual and sustainable weight loss.
Why Should I Care?
Excess weight, especially obesity diminishes almost every aspect of health from reproductive and respiratory function to memory and mood. Obesity increases the risk of several debilitating, and deadly diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers. It does this through a variety of pathways, some as straight forward as the mechanical stress of carrying extra pounds and some involving complex changes in hormones and metabolism. Obesity decreases the quality and length of life, and increases individual, national and global health-care cost.
The Good News
Weight loss can curtail some obesity-related risks. Losing a few pounds as little as 5-10 pounds, offers meaningful health benefits to people who are obese, even if they never achieve their ideal weight, and even if they only lose weight later in life.
(Ludington, 2000)
PART I
The Main Factors to Weight Gain: What Should You Know?
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is
