What just happened?

Mrs. Phillips, please come to my office.

I hadn’t heard Mr. Andrews come up behind me. I had been so focused on figuring out the problem in front of me that I had blocked everything else out. His words startled me and shook me out of my trance.

I’m sorry, what? I asked turning to face Mr. Andrews.
