Chapter 1 Professor Miller

I visit

I stood outside Professor Miller’s door.  I couldn’t quite bring myself to knock. I mean, I was already late, so maybe I should just leave?  After all, it wasn’t like the extra tutoring she had offered to do was going to change that last test F into a better grade.

I attended a smallish liberal arts school.  There was a variety of classes and degrees available.  For the most part I was a good student and I really enjoyed college.  However, this quarter I didn’t seem to quite have it all together.  Maybe it was my new boyfriend or maybe it was the workload.  But whatever it was, the ease I had experienced with college seemed to evade me for now.   For whatever reason Professor Miller’s class was the worst of my classes.

She taught an advanced literature class with a gothic emphasis.   I had not understood what gothic literature was, but I was slowly finding out, that it was a combination of older literature that used lots of dark anthems and pseudo Shakespeare works.
