The Story

The prior

What a strange situation I was in. My name is Phillip and I am recently turned twenty-one-year-old who was in college. I am finishing my junior year and I live near the college, within walking distance, at a house. The house is owned by my Landlady, Mrs. Thompson, she lives there too. I share the house with her and Greg. Greg is about a year older than I am and he has lived there longer than me.

That’s all fine. I say share the house loosely, since that is not really the case. Greg and I have rooms that in the house and some private living areas too. We share a common kitchen as well. The rest of the house, the bulk of it actually, is where Mrs. Thompson lives. It is like a duplex or a triplex I suppose, except that is all connected inside too. If that makes sense. In other words, I can go to anyone’s room or living area without going outside.

The rent is somewhat cheap, at least for what we get, it feels inexpensive but the tradeoff is the lack of privacy. That is the downside of the connected house. I am
