About this ebook
James sees an advert in a men's magazine. "Former headmaster from the Welsh Valleys. Seeks errant boys over 18 in need of corporal punishment. Serious applications only - no time-wasters!’ He answers the advert and eagerly awaits a reply. When one eventually arrives, after an anxious wait, he is instructed to attend at an address in London. When he arrives, he's taken to an upstairs apartment where, over the next few hours, James's world will be turned upside down and he will be forced at last to confront his unhappy time at home and school, his lack of self-esteem and start to learn to like himself at last. This book contains scenes of brutal adult corporal punishment.

‘Come and sit over here, it’s James, isn’t it?’ Gone was the strict tone. James imagined it would have been like that from the beginning had he not made a mess of his arrival. He could see Mr Ewans’s frustration, fed up with pious judgement from a religious woman who would disapprove of his lifestyle and the guests who would no doubt frequently arrive. He was annoyed with himself for being so careless, although the stinging pain he felt as he walked across was a reminder of the price, he’d paid for being so thoughtless.
‘I apologise sir, I should have thought. I was nervous, in fact I still am.’ James replied as he reached the sofa. Ewans patted the seat beside him.
‘Well, that matter has been dealt with, a couple of good strokes of the cane quickly wipes the slate clean. Get used to it young man, there’s plenty more coming your way soon and we’ll have those trousers off for those – pants too of course.’ James shivered at the prospect. The two strokes he’d just received were the hardest he’d ever been given and he’d had the protection of clothing. He couldn’t imagine similar on bare flesh.
‘It hurt sir! I deserved it.’ James replied meekly.
‘How do you take your tea?’ He asked, seemingly moving the conversation on.
‘Just milk sir, no sugar.’ James replied.

I'm Sam Evans, writer, father and grand parent. I've travelled around a bit, both for work reasons and pleasure. Ive been to places during interesting periods of our times and met some amazing people. My main interest now is as a writer. I like to write about both my own experiences and those I met along the way. I've written two books which reflect on a conversation I had about early life. One was about the latter stages of a school and then later in life when a dark event followed that person into adulthood. It was a dfifficult period in that person's life and it describes an obsession which will be carried for ever. It was hard to describe and even harder to put into words. Much of the narritive in these two books are based on true events, although names have been changed and some parts were added to make the story more readable. More books will follow on equally challenging subjects. Please note. all characters depicted in my books are over 18 when features in appropriate scenes in each bookYou can find all my books and others by my fellow authors at https://www.texshirebooks.com

The Appointment
James turned into a narrow tree lined road; he’d arrived. The trees were mature and like so many across London, they were leafless pollarded London plane waiting on the advent of spring to burst into life once more. Either side, tall, narrow terraced houses faced each other, each with steps leading up to a wide main door, set back under an ornate porch. As he searched for the number, James realised this was the culmination of a month of searching and brief correspondence between himself and the man who probably even now was pacing up and down expectantly waiting for a ring on his doorbell.
James parked up. He was just past the house, it’s green front door unmistakably identified by a large polished brass number 27. He wondered who kept that polished. His hands were on the steering wheel and he stared ahead sightlessly. Most of the forty mile drive he’d had plenty of time to question the wisdom of his action that day, heading to work in the morning and taking the afternoon off. It was a Thursday and Mr Burrage’s chosen day to receive him. Arrive at 2pm, not a minute later was his instruction; he looked at his watch which showed he had five minutes to go, although the clock in his car said he had longer. He now wished he’d checked the accuracy of either before he’d left, maybe both were wrong and it was 2pm already – he was late! What then?
A month earlier, after a week of troubled thinking where his mind cast back twenty-two years to fifteen, his last year at school, he’d had a yearning to revisit the last time he’d found himself in the headmaster’s office to receive the cane. What had taken place in there had troubled him on and off ever since and he’d even sought men since then to relive the event. He’d tried to put it out of his mind but it always returned to haunt him, especially at night. Then, he’d seen a magazine on a newsagent counter. It was stuffed full of articles about corporal punishment and within the classified advertising on the last pages he saw something which excited him greatly.

He’d read and reread the brief but very concise wording. It was 1986 and corporal punishment had just been banished from state schools. This man was Old School
when such abolition delicacy was unheard of. James tried to imagine his age, maybe a man in his late sixties or early seventies? It was before any such arrangement could be put in place instantly via the internet. This was seriously slow. A box number and an accommodation address to forward mail. James procrastinated. He was good at that. He’d think about it, sleep on it, revisit it later. The words were still the same, nothing had changed, it was down to him to decide? The following morning, he put pen to paper, it felt like he was about
