The Renter

A young twenty year old college student, Philip lives in a small private rental house. It is a nice clean place with a landlady who seems a bit aloof. The Story

The Incident

I had a thing for Mrs. Thompson. She was an older lady that looked to be in her mid 50’s but she was still a pretty good-looking package at least to my twenty-year-old eyes. She was also my landlady. I lived a few miles away from the local college and was one of two guys renting out part of her house.

She was also a pretty easy-going lady. Liked things to stay neat and tidy but wasn’t too hung up on most things. I did notice the other renter, Greg, seemed to treat her a little more cautiously than I did. There always seemed to be a little tension between the two of them which I never really understood. It wasn’t all that obvious I guess, just mostly a feeling I had more than anything else.

Anyway, she had a nice place. A typical rental house with a common kitchen. My area was basically my bedroom and a private bathroom. Greg had the same set up. Mrs. Nelson had the other half of the house. I had never really seen her half or had even been invited to it, but I gathered it included more than just her room. When I had answered the advertisement for a renter the paperwork was completed in the kitchen and the tour was limited to the driveway, the bedroom and the kitchen. It didn’t bother me at the time and I hadn’t even really considered it as being out of the ordinary. For the month that I had lived here not much had happened.
