    A low carb diet will restrict the amount of carbohydrates you eat, asking you to focus instead on lean proteins, healthy fats and high fiber vegetables that have little sugar. There are dozens of varieties of low carb diets on the market. Some of them will give you a specific number of carbohydrates that you are not to exceed and others will have a strict list of foods you absolutely may not eat. Remember that a low carb diet is not the same as a no carb diet.     Most people choose to adopt a low carb eating plan when they want to lose weight. If you have diabetes or your doctor has diagnosed you as pre-diabetic, a low carb diet may be prescribed. That's because this type of eating plan will reduce the levels of glucose that's held in your blood. Insulin levels will drop when you reduce the amount of carbohydrates you eat. People who are overweight also benefit from low carb diets because their blood pressure goes down. This is especially true for people struggling with obesity.
