    Introduction

Do you wake up at the start of a new day feeling energised and motivated for the day ahead? Or do you feel tired sluggish and dreading your day even before you have stepped out of bed? There are many reasons why you may feel the latter, one of the biggest contributing factors to this situation is your nutrition, you really are what you eat! If you are eating a calorie controlled balanced and varied diet, having adequate sleep and rest, being mindful of your current stress levels and keeping your alcohol consumption within safe limits you should feel healthy and energetic. Your mood and overall state of mind should be balanced and positive. Conversely, if you are making poor nutrition choices most of the time, not sleeping enough, suffer with chronic stress and drink too much alcohol your mood and performance will slowly become affected. You may feel cranky, exhausted, and experience a general lack of interest in every day activities. Have you ever put these signs and symptoms down to your lifestyle? Or have you come to believe that this is how life is?

Perhaps you are a busy working or stay at home parent, tired and exhausted running here and there to finish off your to-do list and ensure the kids are happy. Maybe you have a demanding full-time job, or run your own business where you work all of the hours in the day, and fall into bed late at night after finalising your tax returns or that report which was to be submitted a couple of days ago.

These are extremely common scenarios. But the truth is, everyone is busy, no matter who they are. We make ourselves too busy trying to take care of others and keep other people happy. You have to stop here and analyze what you do with your time on a daily basis, you need to carve out more time for you! It is not a reward, it is a necessity. How can you make others happy if you aren't doing things that make you happy first? Think about it, if you are not happy it affects a lot of areas in your life! The message here is, take more time out to spend going to the gym or a class, going for a swim, anything that will boost your mood and improve your wellbeing. Taking more time out to work on yourself is what will transform you into an effective parent, partner, colleague and boss. This will lead to your ultimate success as you plan out your path to improved health and wellness.

You can begin to alter your lifestyle by first analysing what you currently do on a daily basis. What habits have you developed over the years, both good and bad? What can you change right now that will have the biggest impact on your wellbeing? Write or type everything
