It was Angie's second day in the corporate world and she had come to a conclusion: being a grownup sucked.

She stabbed her phone's hold button and set the receiver down, then cast about helplessly for a moment. They wanted accounting. What extension was that? There was a huge list in a spreadsheet, she remembered. Where was it? Oh right, on the network drive, of course. Which one was the network drive?

She figured it out after several minutes, and came back on the line to give the caller a breathless apology before transferring her. Another small disaster, just like everything else that had happened this morning. And she was just barely getting started.

What she had been thinking, coming to work for a giant corporation? There was a whole tower of glass above her head, and she was on the front lines here, one of several people handling incoming calls and making sure visitors saw the people they needed to. It was intimidating as all hell, and she was beginning to suspect she couldn't do it. She was so desperate to reinvent herself, but maybe she couldn't really change. Maybe this just wasn't her scene.

She already felt like she didn't fit in. People took one look at her and she could almost feel them judging her. It felt exactly like high school, which was frustrating when she was trying so hard not to be that person anymore.
