Ashley had had a crush on Jacob since day one of college.

She'd first seen him in Psychology 101: a tall, handsome, dark-haired guy sitting in the back next to the window. She'd had her fill of hipsters and geek boys, and Jacob's casual stylishness attracted her. That and the fact that he was hot.

Psychology 101 was an easy class for easy credits, and so were the other classes that she happened to share with him – or at least they had that reputation. Some turned out to be unexpectedly challenging. She knew plenty of students like him. No major yet, just coasting through and collecting credits. It seemed to fit with what she knew of his personality.

And that was sort of the problem. She didn't really know him, and wasn't sure how to change that. It wasn't that she was shy. Quite the opposite, actually. She was more worried about how to relate to him without scaring him off.

In the meantime, she kept seeing him in all the easy classes. Sociology, College Algebra, Public Speaking... then Filmmaking Class. Which turned out to be one of the unexpectedly challenging ones. Making a good film, even one that was five minutes long, turned out to be a lot harder than it looked.

Jacob had never distinguished himself in
