About this ebook

Molly has always lived by her parents' rules, but she's decided it's time for a change. First up: a dangerous solo trek along the Appalachian trail.

But when a bear attack nearly costs Molly her life, she finds herself in debt to the gruff, handsome mountaineer who comes to her rescue. Now she's out to discover some more firsts at the hands of her rugged savior!

EXCERPT:

His camp was cozy, with a tent, fire-pit and log seat.

"So tell me, Fulsom. Were you following me?" Molly raised an eyebrow at him. He shrugged and looked bashful. She smirked. She had noticed he was only a few years older than her. He was rugged, but had a hawkish nose, bright blue eyes and a kind smile that belied how attractive he was.

"Look, I felt bad. And I'll be honest, I was worried," he admitted.

She took out some sandwiches and handed him one.
"I guess in this case, it turned out useful," she said.

"Right place, right time. Honestly, that's the first bear I've ever seen charge anyone," he said. "Almost turned and ran."

"Maybe it didn't like you either," she teased.

"So why have you decided to take this big bite out of the world?" he asked.

She roasted a marshmallow over the fire he'd made.

"I wanted to do something I never had before. I realized, nothing will happen unless I make it happen. I mean, I remember waiting for my first kiss. I passed up on so many chances because I thought the guy should make the first move, and I ended up waiting until I was seventeen. Seventeen!" she exclaimed. Fulsom whistled low.

"Now THAT is hard to believe," he said.

"And why is that?" she straightened herself.

Fulsom seemed flustered.

"Oh, well, because... you know..." he motioned at her with his hand. "You're just... very adorable. I would think you'd have... I don't know." He stammered. Molly felt her face grow hot.

"Well. I haven't. I mean, I've kissed guys before, just not... I haven't... gone all the way," she admitted. He chuckled at her nervousness. She couldn't hold his stare. It was too focused. She was afraid to see what parts of her he was looking at.

"You haven't... ever?"

Her pulse quickened. She couldn't believe what she was about to do. But the theme of the day was to seize it.

    About the Author

Molly knew her parents wouldn't approve. She knew she probably needed to think about college applications or getting a summer job, but she didn't care. All she cared about was the promise she had made to herself that for her eighteenth birthday; she would go on an adventure like none she had ever had.

She started by sneaking out of the house early one morning. She left a letter for her parents and was soon on a bus to Shenandoah National Park for her first solo journey in life: hiking the Appalachian Trail.

Molly walked into the information center. It was early, and there was only a park employee, an older couple, and a scruffy, bearded young man inside.

How can I help you? asked the attendant, a kind-looking ranger.

This is my first time in the park. What's the best way to the Appalachian trail from here? I'm hoping to make it to Maine by the fall, she unfolded her map.

So you've already done all the other trails in the park? he asked. Molly shook her head.

    Actually, it's my first hike.

She turned at the sound of a rude snort behind her. It was the scruffy
