    Introduction

I had just graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I had several years of clerical experience from volunteering for a local non-profit and working in a lawyer’s office in Chicago. I had just got an offer from a local, one-man, consulting firm that needed a person to do some clerical tasks. It wasn’t far from my house and it would give me an opportunity to gain some more experience. The pay was almost $7 more per hour than what I was use to making. It was an exciting time for me. I took the week off just prior to starting my new job so I could clean the house, rest, and prepare for my new adventure.

    Chapter 1

On Monday morning, Casey Dupointe, the owner of the consulting company, met me at the door. I had interviewed with Casey for the job and was quite impressed that the business seemed to be quite successful, even though Casey always worked alone. Casey had recently been working 12-16 hour days in the office because business was good and day-by-day, he kept getting new clients. Casey interviewed five people for the job, but evidently, I was the one that he liked the best.

The first months were spent doing lots of administrative tasks for Casey. In the past, Casey had done all of these tasks himself, alone with meeting with his clients. I couldn’t figure out how he was doing it all, but I guess that if you work 12-16 hour days, it could be accomplished.

After about three months, I noticed Casey seemed to be watching me walk and often times, I would be standing at the copy machine and would catch Casey staring at me. At first, I felt a little uncomfortable, but then, I started to enjoy the fact that another man other than my boyfriend, Darryl, noticed my curvy and shapely body. I was thirty-two years old, but in my opinion, I had the body of a twenty-one year old. I looked DAMN good.

I always made it a point to go out of the office for lunch, but since I noticed Casey watching my body more and more, I, all of a sudden, found myself staying in the office more and more for lunch. Before I knew it, Casey was ordering lunch in daily for the two of us at lunchtime at his expense. Lunch was usually whatever Casey felt like eating. He always made sure that he ordered enough for me, or told me to order whatever I wanted from the menu.

One hot summer day, I wore a short skirt and a sleeveless sweater to work. I wanted to see Casey’s reaction to my outfit since I was usually dressed very professional when I came to work. After about three hours, Casey finally told me that he liked my outfit. Casey went even further and told me how the colors complimented my skin. I knew then that Casey was a bit interested in me. Day after day, I wore outfits that seemed to show more skin, but still looked professional. I could see Casey was becoming more interested in me. Finally, after about four months on the job, Casey asked me if he could speak with me in his office. I didn’t know what Casey wanted, but I prepared myself in case he was about to fire me. To my surprise, Casey began the conversation by telling me what an excellent worker I was and what a great job I was doing. Casey said, You have really taken a lot of administrative work off me and I really appreciate that. I made a great decision hiring you.

After about fifteen minutes of telling me what a great job I was doing, Casey started to talk about how unhappy his family life was. I was a bit shocked because Casey had never talked about things going on at home. I have been married for over thirty years and have two grown children who both have military careers and live in other states. In the last ten years, I have just felt like something was missing from my home life. It’s just not what it use to be. My wife seems to always be fussing and cussing and she doesn’t talk to me much. When she does talk to me, she is usually complaining about something. Because of my so-called unhappiness, I have recently been working 12-16 hour days in the office in order to be away from her. I’ve been a one-man business, which means that there is never anyone around to talk to about my problems.

Near the end of the conversation, Casey apologized for talking about his problems, but said that he felt that I was the type of person that he could talk to honestly. I told him that anytime he wanted to talk, I would be happy to be a listening ear. Casey was glad to hear that. After being in his office for nearly two hours, I returned to my desk. While at my workstation, I started to feel sorry for Casey and his situation. In my mind, Casey just needed a good woman. A good woman would make things better for him and would probably help his business grow even
