2020 CHANGED MY LIFE (for the better!)

The pandemic has led to changes on a global level that we’ve never experienced before. As a result many of us have had to completely rethink our lives in the past year. ‘The only thing that’s certain in life is that it changes all the time,’ says psychologist Kate Keenan. ‘Nothing stays the same and you can’t control everything. The only thing you can control is the way you deal with challenges. This requires a certain amount of resilience and not everyone finds it so easy to adapt when structures they’ve always relied on are taken away. But, it can be done.’

Kate adds that the trick is to find a place of control within yourself, rather than relying on other people telling you what to do.

‘It’s a hard lesson to learn. If you can remain flexible and try not to worry about the things you can do nothing about, this will help you to be more open to the new opportunities that may arise in the most unexpected circumstances.

‘At the moment, it’s hard to plan anything.
