About this audiobook
From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Callihan comes a charming, emotional romance about redefining dreams and discovering unlikely love along the way.
Life for Emma isn’t good. The world knows her as Princess Anya on Dark Castle, but then her character gets the axe—literally. The cherry on top is finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman. She needs a break, and sanctuary comes in the form of Rosemont, a gorgeous estate in California promising rest and relaxation.
Then she meets the owner’s equally gorgeous grandson, ex–hockey player and current recluse Lucian Osmond, and she sees her own pain and yearning reflected in his eyes.
He’s charming when he wants to be but also secretive and gruff, with protective walls as thick as Emma’s own. Despite a growing attraction, they avoid each other.
But then there’s an impromptu nighttime skinny-dip, and Lucian’s luscious homemade tarts and cream cakes start arriving at Emma’s door, tempting her to taste life again…
In trying to stay apart, they only grow closer—and their broken pieces just might fit together and make them whole.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Retired, not by choice, hockey player that can bake tempting treats meets actress whose character was killed off her show, and a sweet French meddling grandma. What can I say, I love a romance with banter!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I just love this book so much. It is very well written
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Ok book, but the male narrator was a little breathy & seemed annoyed by how he read the book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed the imagery in this story. It's well written and beautifully performed by two amazing narrators: Jacob Morgan and Ava Erickson! They do a fantastic job bringing all of the hurt, healing, comfort, recovery from heartbreak and absolutely soul-consuming love and respect. Loved it!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I give it 3.8 stars. I thought it was a cute story!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Annoyed every time the reader breathes in the microphone I felt it in my ears
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Refreshingly low stakes romance to start the year off right. Sweet as pie with excellently written spice.
As for narration, both were incredible at handling all of the different accents. The male narrator sucked in an audible breath before every sentence though and that was often distracting. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved Everything about this book. Not to mention the narratives were a chef’s kiss
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Just enough spice ?? the ending felt rushed , cute story though
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved it. Thank you. I'm about to see what other books the author has written.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Delivered above expectations. Felt non-shallow and handled many different emotions. Witty bantering, which I enjoy. Narration also good.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really loved the point that no one is defiened by just one aspect of their lives. Also how their struggles were written. Also the main characters mutual instant chemistry. Also all the characters were genially written. Gosh I guess there actually wasn't anything I didn't love about that book. I know my husband didn't particurally love the fact that I was constantly with my headphones. For the sake of our marital bliss I'll wait a couple of days before starting a new book by the same author?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I absolutely loved Make It Sweet.
Emma and Lucian definitely delivered gold when it comes to the grumpy/sunshine trope. Lucian is the optimum of grumpy retired ice hockey player and he is quite happy hiding away where no one will try to find him out of their very busy schedules. Emma only comes for a break in between career choices and she expects a blissful, scenic getaway, not having to avoiding a walking sex god.
Emma and Lucian go on a journey of healing and finding out who you are without the fame. They become each others confidants and best friends while also finding out new things about themselves. I laughed out loud at some of the characters and also hurt when they had their downfalls. I cannot wait to read the next book because I not only fell in love with these two but also the side characters. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Guys! This was great! Really good narration and the story it’s self is fantastic! If you haven’t listened or read, please do. You’ll definitely enjoy it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Truly one of the most beautifully written romances I’ve ever read! It’s neither a typical sports romance nor an overly angsty romance, but rather more realistic conceptually. With elegant use of the English language imbued with French, when appropriate, I didn’t want to miss a single word. Well-developed characters and a gorgeous setting created a story in which the movie in my mind came to life. Excellent narration was a joy! Prior to this, I’d only read a couple of Callihan’s new adult romances, which were good…but neither prepared me for the beauty of Make it Sweet!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Cute rom-com kind of book.
Adorable couple. Somewhat predictable plot, but entertaining. Fun side characters. That feel-good happy ending.
