About this audiobook

“The best book I read all year.” Jana Aston, New York Times Bestselling Author

An Amazon Top 100 Bestseller

He might not be the devil, but working under him for six weeks is my idea of hell.

Hayes Flynn is an arrogant jerk known best for his scotch habit and the way he spreads his British “charm” all over Hollywood, never with the same woman twice.

He’s the last person I want to work for, except he has a face I can’t look away from, and the longer we’re together, the harder he is to hate. Because under that smug exterior is a heart he doesn’t want to show—one that was badly broken a decade earlier.

A part of me wants to fix it for him before I leave…but can I do it without breaking my own in the process?

Tallie was tedious almost to the point of utter unlikeability. She was ridiculously judgmental, particularly of a person she didn’t actually know at all in the beginning; then stubbornly clung to that decision despite all the evidence to the contrary. Then she kept deciding over and over and over again how Hayes “really is” or “what he really wants” or thinks or feels, etc. without once (literally) giving him the option of expressing himself. All that aside, when she wasn’t being overbearing and unlikeable she was actually a pretty solid, well-rounded person with a lot of potential and I could see why Hayes liked her. I was close to 3 stars based solely on how grating I found Tallie’s behavior, but it’s actually a pretty good book, decent story, and not really a lot of drama (except the kind she created for herself), and I liked the evolution of Hayes and how the story played out over all.

I really enjoyed the book except for the FMC. She’s absolutely insufferable. She’s such a coward, whiney and constantly makes herself a martyr for no reason. The writing is good but she ruined the story to me.

It wasn’t that sexy but I really liked the plot and I really liked it. The tropes that are in it.

Elizabeth O'Roark I literally loved this book so much so that I re-read it by listening to the audio!

I needed a light-hearted book after reading one to many darker books lately and the A Deal with the Devil was just the ticket. I laughed and cried reading this book. Honestly, I think that's one of the highest compliments to an author if they can pull that type of emotion out of you!

Story was OK. FMC ruined it. She was always jumping to conclusions about the MC and always very judgy with people. She brought this story from a 4 star to 3 because yeah I just got fed up listening to her.

Very good slow burn romance. This has been added to one of my favorites. You will swoon and laugh out loud.

I loved, loved, loved this book and the narrator. The funny banter and chemistry between the MCs, the angst, the pining, the romance... this book is a perfect mix. And it has an amaxing trope: the hero changing his ways for the heroine. Swooon!

Love story that was slowly unfolding. Witty and full of humor. Lots of laugh out loud moments. My heart broke a few times. Great narration. All and all a good book and great listen!!

I find Tali to be a tad bit judgmental of others as well as herself sometimes. She judges Hayes for choosing plastic surgery instead of Paediatrics although he gave good reasons for it. She judged Hayes's patients for choosing cosmetic surgery which admittedly many people do but sometimes there are food reasons why people have some work done.
She felt she was not good enough as a writer and projected that insecurity on Matt. However I like her strength of character in that after Matt cheated on her she made a decision to leave him and stick with it and thereafter she did not allow any other man to make her a doormat. I also like that she was able and willing to learn and to self correct which is very admirable. I can identify with Hayes for refusing to put himself in a situation which may lead to heartache and pain for a long time and kudos to him for eventually putting himself out there again its not easy. The family angle also resonated with me as well how one can get immersed in family problems that they van foget to live their own lives. It was all in all a good story funny, romantic and with teachable moments.

Delicious slow burn. Took me a couple of chapters to get into it (could have used a tad more setup/exposition). After I got into it though I couldn’t put it down. Also, I don’t usually like single POV, but I don’t think this book would have been as good if it was in dual. The fact that I wasn’t quite sure what the H was thinking helped hook me even more. Loved it so much I ended up subscribing to the authors newsletter just to get access to the bonus content. Highly recommend both the book and reading the bonus content on her website.
