About this audiobook

In this steamy tale by USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, an American searching for her purpose escapes to a Scottish town but finds more questions than answers when she meets a brooding yet handsome handyman.

Freshly fired from her third job in a row, Bonnie St. James has lost her way. So when she and her best friend stumble upon a “help wanted” post to run a coffee shop in the Scottish Highlands, they apply on a whim. Who knows? Maybe traveling to a new place is just what she needs to figure out her next move.

When the friends arrive in the tiny idyllic town of Corsekelly, they instantly fall for the gorgeous Highland landscape and friendly townspeople. But Bonnie finds a less-than-warm welcome in Rowan MacGregor, the rugged local handyman. Busy wrestling his own demons, Rowan’s in no mood to deal with the quirky American—even if she is a bonny lass.

As Bonnie and Rowan’s paths inevitably cross, insults—and sparks—fly. Can the pair build on their similarities to help each other find purpose and direction…and maybe romance too? Or will their passionate tempers fling them apart?

I wasn’t a fan of the 3rd act conflict with the friend. Seemed out of the blue and unnecessary. Other than that, I had a good time with this book.

This was not a bad book, it just seemed like it would be better. Good idea for a plot, small Scottish town coffee shop putting out an international advert for a six month contract to run the shop while the owners take a well deserved break. Two American ladies, who are friends, answer the advert. They are both at a stage of their lives where they are lost and want to find themselves.... Great ? But..... I expected more humour from this author, I expected more from the plot, unfortunately I found that probably the first 70% of the book was a bit meh ?.
I must say, though, the last 25/30% of the book was good, very emotional, and made me tear up a bit. I just wish all the book was the same. Like I said not a bad book, but I wish it had been a bit better ?

Good author. I didn’t realize it is young adult until i began the book. Nothing wrong with it. It is just too young for my taste in books. Well written and will appeal to readers who enjoy young adult rom coms.

Not my favorite of her novels but still worth listening to. Typical girl meets boy and this one adds girl meets girl. Everyone lives happily ever after. Steamy, which shouldn’t be surprising if you’ve read some of her books and so funny. I thought the narrators did a good job and the voices fit the characters. The only complaint I have is one I have with most male narrators…they usually just sound wrong trying to do a female voice. The chapters switched from the female reader (doing a male voice when called for, for her chapter ), which was not really annoying, to the male narrating his chapters having to a female voice when necessary. If you are offended by more modem terms for male and female “parts”, Megan Quinn is not an author for you.

This book had me laughing out loud a lot. I loved Bonnie and Rowan, but i also really enjoyed the whole town and all the side characters. And the spice was just right.

I love Meghan Quinn books typically, but this one was not great. The main character Bonnie was annoying and childish the two narrators were mediocre at best. I could not finish the book.

Decent story. Some good reasoning around self value and what happiness means. Fun banter. Male narrator had authentic Scot accent but read very slow compared to the female narrator. Had to constantly switch between 1,2x speed and default speed.

I was surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did because some of Meghan Quinn's books have been hit or miss for me if they've not been part of her sports romance collection.

This is hilarious, even though it's predictable but there are some definite sad moments. Bonnie and Rowan live up to the opposites attract trope with a bit of an age gap. I loved how grumpy Rowan was, especially with the Scottish accent. The fact that they have to spend so much time together has its pros and cons and seeing this new community with all its quirks kept me captivated from start to finish.

Bonnie did become annoying at times when I realised how self-centred she is as a character. I understand this is one of her personality traits since it's part of her character development arc but at times I wanted to shake her and make her see what was happening around her.

I read this book and gave it 5/5 stars. It was hilarious and amazing. So when I saw the audiobook on Scribd I was excited to listen to it but unfortunately the audio was NOT good! It actually ruined a great story.

The problem was the male narrator. He was HORRIBLE! His Scottish accent was terrible, but what made him truly atrocious was when he was narrating the female parts. It was so bad, I had to fast forward through his parts! The female narrator was phenomenal. This would have actually been a great audiobook if it was solo narration, done by her.

Reviewers seem to have strong reactions to this h, and honestly you will know in just the first chapter or so whether you're going to be able to stand reading a whole book about her.

I found some of the outrageous (and unrealistic, but whatever!) stuff that came out of her mouth in the first half of the book to be HILARIOUS, however, she really could be an annoying (and boundary ignoring) character. At the end of the book her best friend kind of rips into her, and at that point you feel for her because she HAD been growing as a character, and everything was going against her, however...her BF wasn't wrong.

I will say that at least she wasn't one dimensional....there was an interesting little twist to her backstory, and her need to "find" herself is probably something a lot of people might be able to relate to....however, she really just plain needed to GROW UP.

The H, while a certainly a yummy hunk, was almost as annoying as she was. He had his own backstory, and I did enjoy the fact that once they both gave into their attraction for each other, they really did seem to settle one another down, and bring out the best in each other....but the conflict between them at the end was one of those contrived "this could all be solved with one text" ones.

I don't recommend listening to this as an audiobook, because the male narrator did a HORRIBLE job with the female/American accent. I don't think I would have found the h NEAR as annoying if I'd just been reading the book instead of listening to it. He did her no favors at ALL.

I don't regret giving this one a go, but it really just went on WAY too long. My true rating is a 3.5, but I like to always give the author the benefit of the doubt by rounding up instead of down.

This was so stupid I couldn’t even get past the first few chapters. Unfortunately the story itself might have actually been good but the author spent 80% of the story telling with unnecessary banter in what I can only assume was an attempt at humor. It was childish and annoying and I couldn’t keep listening.
