About this audiobook

A classic fairy tale gets a sexy, edgy twist.

Jackson “The Beast” Boudreaux is rich, gorgeous, and unbelievably rude to the staff at Chef Bianca Hardwick’s New Orleans restaurant. Bianca would sooner douse herself in hot sauce than cook for Jackson again, but when he asks her to cater his fund-raiser, Bianca can’t refuse, knowing the cash will help pay her mother’s medical bills. Then Jackson makes another outrageous request: Marry me. The unconventional offer includes an enormous sum—money Bianca desperately needs, even if it does come with a contract—and a stunning ring.

The heir to a family bourbon dynasty, Jackson knows the rumors swirling around him. The truth is even darker. Still, he needs a wife to secure his inheritance, and free-spirited, sassy Bianca would play the part beautifully. Soon, though, their simple business deal evolves into an emotional intimacy he’s built walls to avoid.

As the passion heats up between them, Bianca and Jackson struggle to define which feelings are real and which are for show. Is falling for your fake fiancé the best happy ending…or a recipe for disaster?

    This was freaking hilarious!

A fun romance that had me laughing out loud. I have never laughed so much at the dialogue of a main character in a contemporary romance. The romance was pretty sweet, but for me the best part was Bianca’s crazy-ass talk and inner monologue. Bianca is my new role model coz the girl is the bomb! 5 plus stars just for her...

I'd actually thought this book was gonna end up being super cheap and kinda cheesey based on the title, but it actually turned out to be pretty good. It should have a title worthy of the content. Aside from that I liked it and will surely look for other books by this author.. naturally, I won't judge them by their cover.

This book was so much fun to read!! It's been a long time since I could say that about a story I've read. The characters rang true to the place where the story, New Orleans. The characters were all fully flushed out and the writing caused me to care about and enjoy each one, even characters that would normally not be front and center had so much personality that I found myself also waiting to see what they were up to. This is the first book I've read by this author but I have already saved a few more because I've enjoyed this one so much. I listened to this one on audio book. The voice actors were amazing. ESPECIALLY the female voice actress. She made the books come to life and seem so real.

The the AAVE is laughably stereotypical and it’s quite evident the author hasn’t been around Black folks or was raised by a white mother cuz who the heck talks like that? It hits different when you’re just trying to listen to a good book but the characters sound like the formerly enslaved straight out of 1868… it’s messed up cuz their other book Penpal was so damn good….. and for the characters to be interracial hits different and not in a good way

Not a fan of the female narrator's voice. No one in the south sounds like they are from Gone With the Wind. I couldn't get through the first minute.

Three words sum up this title perfectly:

    slap-slap-kiss

A very entertaining and enjoyable listen. At times, I found myself laughing out loud or gasping at an unexpected plot twist. The narration was spot on, and once again Sebastian York does not disappoint.
The storyline moves at a nice pace and The characters are easy to like. Enjoy.

Wow! I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. Believable characters, compelling story, sizzling chemistry.
There were a few loose ends I wish were trimmed up (no epilogue :( ), but I really enjoyed the book.

    Content warning ⚠️ (spoiler)
Parent illness (cancer) and death. It just threw me off guard and brought some heavy emotions to the surface.

Great narrators and a lovely story of a couple who started with dislike who end up with a fake engagement that results into real love. They learn so much about each other and begin to really see that they are made to be together! Very lovely ?

These two have such a good hate-to-love romance and together they are just explosive. I loved their chemistry from the get-go and as the story goes on it's great seeing Jackson's character peel away the layers like an onion. But more romantic than that...

This was such a slow burn, sometimes too slow. I wanted them to rip each other's clothes off and when they were getting there they'd stop and torture us. There was then the add-on to the fake dating and contract which I did not expect with how their story started but I loved it and it definitely added to the tension build-up.

Bianca and Jackson are both cut from the same cloth and it works. To start with I didn't think I would like Jackson's character at all, especially when Bianca's character was so feisty and attractive to read about. They were complete opposites but had the same morals and intentions. Their romance was exceptionally written and it was heartwarming as well.

    GREAT narrators!
A love/hate romantic story with sass and comedy sprinkled throughout makes this a fun story!
I really liked this feel-good story, with wonderful Southern sayings and Creole twang. It just made me feel good. This book is sexy, but not overly spicy, the story plot is the center of this book.

Sebastian York nailed the accent of an uppity, arrogant, and pompous southern “gentleman in that region of the US. Diana Luke gave a good performance of a "take no prisoner”strong southern woman. Good book.
