About this audiobook

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans comes a hot romance about two strangers and their race to fall in love.

If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more than a business transaction—until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.

The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.

They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough…as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.

This was pretty cute. I don’t actually watch reality tv, so I can’t speak to the reviews that criticize that aspect of it, but I actually liked the challenges they went through for the show.

I did feel a connection between the two and could see why they would both admire the other and feel insecure about themselves. There was a little Sam and Diane vibe going on a la the old tv show “Cheers”. Penny was awfully judgmental going in, which made her hard to like at first. They both have horrible insecurities, but realizing that they are both vulnerable is part of their journey.

The reviews on this are mixed. It isn’t an earth shattering story, but it’s sweet, low key and just the kind of thing I needed for a light hearted pick me up kind of book. Others found it hard to connect to the characters, and I can see that. If you relate to the intellectual, then relating to the high school drop out who uses double negatives and thinks he’s stupid might be hard to do or vice versa. But for me, I “got” them and did believe they would work as a couple.

Give it a try! It’s part of the scribd subscription anyway. :)

So good! This is going on my repeat list. Jacob Morgan is one of my favorite narrators for contemporary romance and he does an excellent job yet again. Meg Sylvan does an admirable job as well. Despite her voice for the male love interest sounding a little distractingly like Jane Lynch, it was about fifty times better than any other female narrator's "guy voice." (I don't understand why women narrators feel the need to try a very low tone, because most of the time, they sound like they're playing with a doofy sock puppet and I have to turn it off.)

As for the book itself, the story is great. Well crafted with good pacing, plenty of fun, a generous sprinkling of spice, and just enough drama to move the plot forward at a consistent rate, it had my full attention straight through to the end. I'm looking forward to delving into the author's other books straightaway!

Not so bad, but I didn't feel chemistry between Luke and Penny... and I need that in a book.

Like its not bad but its not the best. Nel is very childish n full of herself at times. Luke is kinda a brute but turned to be kinda a sweetheart. Their insecurities make the "romance" they are suppose to have feel just mediocre. It's kinda vanilla on the sexy time scenes

Katy Evans is an excellent author. Story grabbed me right away Jacob Morgan, who also goes by the name zachary webber, gave an excellent performance. A sweet, steamy romance which had more hilarious than sad parts. One of the few audiobooks I’ll listen to again in a year or so.

Loved this story of Penny and Luke! Lots of surprises throughout! Finally, a female narrator (Meg Sylvan) who didn’t make me cringe doing male voices! And Jacob Morgan’s sexy voice is one of the best in audiobooks! Highly recommend!

A refreshing story about love. The details were on point. Though I would’ve loved that the vow of the groom were dubbed by the male narrator (Jacob Morgan) i really love his voice ? It would have brought out more love to the story.
