About this audiobook

I just moved in with my billionaire best friend (and secret crush),

Oliver Humphries.

He’s the all-star. The jock. The golden boy—

And I’m no match.

I’m the nerdy, frizzy-haired, not-so-skinny friend.

The moment I met him at fourteen, I was in L-O-V-E.

I’m under no illusion I stand a chance.

Living with him?

Not a problem.

In fact, it’s a brilliant idea. I’m good at hiding my feelings.

Until I play “Truth or Dare” with him.

Oh, good grief!

Did I just tell him I want him to be my first?

A sexy friends-to-lovers romance from USA Today bestselling author Jolie Day! Come see what happens when the alpha male and the geeky girl next door collide. Literally. Stand-alone romance, no cliffhanger. Jolie Day is team HEA.

The first parts were really slow. And I kinda didn’t like the Female H cause she was supposed to be smart., which she is but it’s just that she’s irrationally I love and her reactions were always extreme. But half of the book was nice and liked it till the end ❤️

    3.75 Stars for me!

My rating range of this story... 2.75 - 4 Stars
If significant, why? The H was an extreme man whore and beyond clueless for the first 50% of the story and the h was constantly and repetitively negative in her head.

    Main Character Ratings...
    Start H = 2/10 - End = 7/10
    Start h = 4/10 - End = 6/10

    Narrator Rating(s)
    M = 10/10
    F = 10/10
    If below 5/10,why?

    Was cheating involved? No
Any major triggers to be aware of?

    Scenes with heat... Yes
What point does it start? 10%
How much of the story? 15%
    Anything beyond M/F? No
    If yes, explained

    Heat Rating... 7/10
Clean or Fade to Black - 1 or 2
    Normal to Descriptive 3-5
    Detailed Descriptive Sex - 6-7
Um, Wow, Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No

The back story... The H met the h in high school when he was assigned to show her around the campus. After a girl he was interested in treated the h like garbage, he decided to take her under his wing and protect her. She fell for him instantly but he was already a complete man whore and used her as a go between between himself and girls who were interested in him. She was overweight and that destroyed her self-confidence which kept her from overtly letting him know that she wanted him.

The Romance... The H opened up his home after the h's apartment burned along with her possessions. It took a while, but passion flared.

Thoughts of more? For the H, it started around the 60% mark but she would either run or shut him down when he wanted to talk. The h took a bit longer as she was living in her head and refused to be direct with him.

Note: The right part of the relationship had been in place since high school so they both had to admit it to themselves.

The drama explosion... The H grew a pair and told her his true feelings.

Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Real
    Was it OTT? No
    Separation involved? No
Was it resolved properly or rushed? Properly.

    Final Notes... Why 3.75 Stars?
    1. The H was way too much of a man whore and it continued after the h moved in. (.75)
    2. The h was criminally in her own head and the same worries and fears were running a loop on repeat. If I couldn't skip forward, I might have DNF'd the story because it was overwhelming for me. (.75)

On the positive side, I really did enjoy the story and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Lanier was definitely believable and her worries and fears were very realistic. I just wish the author cut the repetitive mode by 30 - 40% but I digress as my wife loves that style. She also loves heavy angst, gotcha moments and clumsy hs. She, like me, is not a fan of extreme man whores. ?

I also appreciated how the author dealt with the sales associate situation. She could have left it with no resolution, the resolution she first asked for or the H to come to her rescue. Open, honest and direct communication along with a side of compassion is beneficial to all involved.

The h's best girlfriend was pretty awesome and may be a good match for the H's bone-headed brother that gives horrible advice! ?

    HEA or HFN? HEA

I loved listening to this story so much! It had just the right amount of angst, romance and sizzle. Plus the dual narration by Samantha Brentmore and Jason Clarke was perfection.
